Eratic steering

  1. My 225 has a steering issue seems to pull slightly to left then later to right. Had a suspension issue or knocking when on bumpy road recently but couldn't find anything obvious when both front wheels raised.
Checked tyres, springs any thoughts before I get underneath at weekend. Will get tracking checked this weekend too.

  2. Steering heavy at all?

  3. Could be the hub bearings

  4. Mine did this and it was the tie rod ends. When I got them replaced I noticed it still happened.

It was still happening because of wear the original tie rods has caused to the tyres unevenly so I swapped front to rear tyres and this sorted it.

  5. 100% hub bearings. steering not straightening up every now and then ?

  6. Do hub bearings make noise when they're going?
I've had 'clunks' when I roll the car forward/back and brake, or rocking up the kerb (dealer couldn't find anything wrong). Mine has developed into heavy steering and not recentering properly. :/

  7. will try this tomorrow get knocking more than clunk when driving on bumpy roads. Steering does go heavy when pulls but to be honest don't drive it every day and other vehicle is 40 + yr camper .lol
    Are they easy fix

  8. steering defo not straighting

  9. not straighing

Part 1 in picture do you need special tools. thanks

  11. not to take hub itself off. to replace the bearing. im not sure as i had refurbed exchange units so it was a simple swap. There is a couple of well respected chaps on here that im sure will sort them for a good price. difference when done is chalk and cheese.

the clunking noise may also be the drop link ball joints seizing. used to get this when i reversed slowly.

  12. cheers mate found that the gaitor at rear of disc on one side was not fitted properly and only cable tied on other side. Temporary cable tied both.
The drop links appear ok but will replace anyway and possibly track rod ends as old ones about to break when trying to unseize them, couldn't tell if hubs were faulty without complete strip down. When I source refurb hubs is it only usually bottoms as seen where you can get both hubs per side then wheel bearings but cost is soaring. lol
Is there a link to do all this ??

  13. Have a look to see if the bolts on the bottom of the hubs are out a bit. If they are then youll 100% have an issues with them.

  14. what do you mean out a bit, loose or moved,
