So had my 1st 4+ service today at the local dealer. All was fine as you'd expect, dealer phoned to say car was ready so went in to collect it. Usual advisories like non standard exhaust fitted etc. Anyway, I picked up the keys, went outside and jumped into the car, (now I always take a note of the mileage just to help my ocd which I'm sure most car enthusiasts do) and I immediately noticed that they'd moved all my mirrors, seat, steering wheel, dimmed my dash lights etc etc. So I double checked the mileage and the car had only done .1 of a mile, so into the workshop and back out. What the f**k do people feel the need to do that??? Wasn't even road tested to justify it. Really nips my crust!
I find it easier to adjust all back then having to fix a scrape for that object they didnt see in the mirror when reversing into the bay/workshop.
Well I wouldn't say I'm short and the way it was all setup was as if an 8ft monster was sitting in the car. Just felt like a bit of a piss take tbh. When customers drop cars off at my work I only ever move the seat back, and never touch anything else. There's literally no need, especially to that extent.
before you go in for your second service tell them you want no mirrors etc moved... So when they ask a midget to move your car and it comes back scratched/grazed or dented, let them tell you it was because they couldn't see the limits of the car because of your rule..
I'd rather spend 2 minutes re- adjusting everything than turn up to find my car scratched/dented. Then saying that, I wouldn't take mine to a main dealer in the first place.
I'd be surprised if anyone could drive the car let alone see where they were going by the way it was all set. Was definitely done on purpose and not for the sake of moving the car, that's my point. Plus anyone that can't do a simple manoeuvre in a car without adjusting all that shouldn't be behind the wheel, take from that what you want.
I really wouldn't let that irk you. Be pleased they didn't take it out for a hoon without warming it up.
Cool im nearly at mine, make sure they do the right bits! yeah, you gotta take the pedals off right on the mk3 how can you check they have done it?
You can't really, mine was in need of a hoover when I put it in and when I got it back only the driver side was clean so I presume all the leaves and crap fell out when they changed it and then cleaned up after themselves. Possibly...
That would be guessing too. Maybe they did a correct and thorough check through the car? I personally check everything during a service!
Really? I was expecting scuffs on the seats and scratches on the paint from the title of the thread. I remember being a little miffed that they shoved a Renault sticker on my back window when I took it in for one service, I'd much rather that that a "road test" though.
Had mine in for its 1st service recently at the same garage. They did a full inspection with a check sheet which they handed over and it's quite comprehensive. The one thing that irked me slightly was the basic Arnold Clark book stamp compared to the Ness Motors Renault one I've been used to!
