front disc removal

  1. Hi can the front break discs be removed with out taking the calipers off . If not what size allen key is used for the caliper bolts ?.

  2. Hi Pal, no.

12mm Allen key is needed for the calipers.

Be an idea to get the pins and pads out when removing so you can depress the pistons and fit them back on over your new disks.
Youll also need a torx for the bolts (x2) holding the disc to the hub.

  3. Thanks thought it might be the case, I will have purchase a 12 mm Allen key .

Once they are off, Don't bother replacing the torx bolts either. Probably muller them trying to get them off anyway. Pointless things.

  5. Got some new ones with the discs .

    Not needed either way

  7. Unless you'd rather not have the bother of trying to line wheel, disc and hub all up at the same time whilst struggling not to drop your precious alloy :tongueout:

I haven't ran them in mine for over 2 years, That includes wheels on and off every few weeks and changing wheels at TD's. Never had any issues with lining them up

  9. I always put the torx bolts in, only hand tight though and with a bit of copper grease on. Never sieze up then.

My brother's 225 wheels are a pain to get on the hub for some reason, so not having a spinning disc helps.
