Had new springs, struts and inner/outer control arms fitted last autumn but fairly recently my car has developed a slight pull to the left. If I fiddle with the tyre pressures it does settle down a bit, but it is really quite noticeable when cornering. Steering left the wheel feel quite light, and steering right feels quite stiff. I had the tracking done when the new suspension was fitted, but since then I have had new tyres put on. Should I go and get the wheel alignment done, and is it worth going to a 4-wheel alignment place? Am thinking of going to the nearest centre of these guys: http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/
Under hard acceleration its not trying to pull left and right. It did that a lot before I had the hub bearings done, and was terrible over cambers. So not thinking they have gone again! Or at least they have better not have!
Start with your alignment then, Get that checked but if that doesn't solve it i would have a check of the bearings just in case
According to Fred at BTM it's the steering arms, mine is the same! I was told its part of the French charm!
Thanks Jamie, will get it aligned and see if that helps. The steering arms are less than 6 months old, the French charm shouldn't have embedded itself quite yet!
Had the alignment done at the weekend and the front right wheel was quite a bit off. Also noticed that the drop link on the offside front was shot, and of course I have the other link sitting spare in my garage. Car feels much better after the alignment, but suspect a slow puncture on the nearside rear isn't helping much. Neverending french excellence!
Glad to hear it was something easy enough to recitfy Ewan. I know the feeling of never-ending french excellence though. Mine is an on going money pit at the moment. Getting a bit sick of having to constantly spend money on it haha!
I am getting near the point of getting rid in place of something german or japanese. The meg is still good fun to drive, but the endless niggles get pretty tiring
