250 2 months in and the niggles are increasing!

  1. Hello everyone, i bought my meg 250 a few months ago. Absolutely love it, it's a weapon!
However, a few small issues have arisen and I want to see if anyone knows the likely causes behind them before I go to a mechanic...

1: Xenon headlight washers not working.

2: sensor on door handle to unlock car not working.

3: Leak in only the drivers side footwell storage compartment thing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Leak in the footwell storage will be blocked drainage holes under the scuttle

  3. As above, leak will be blocked scuttle - search on here, this has been covered a lot :worried:

Headlight washer not working could be the pump. Is it both sides?

Door handle sensor - is it the little rubber button or the infra-red sensor type? Could just be the microswitch behind the rubber button has failed. Again, search on here as others have had the same problem.

  4. my headlight washers don't work either but i don't have xenons , makes a right weird noise when it goes to work, interested to see the responses

  5. Washers could just be a pipe slipped off the pump, mine did that after I had the bumper off. Garage fixed it when I took it in without an issue.

Sensors could be water ingress, use a pressure washer at all?

Your washers should work regardless if you have Xenons, The noises you hear are probably them actually working, they re pretty loud.

  7. I had this problem with my 225 when I bought it. Turned out to be the pump. Cheap as chips to replace as well.

  8. Are your lights on when testing the washers as they only work when the lights are on.

also are you phyically locking the cars with the keycard? The auto function only works when you walk away from the car without locking vua the keycard, once a keycard button is pressed it overrides the auto function and wont return until the car is started and turned off again.

water in footwell is shuttle drains under the windscreen.

  9. I'm aware of working with or without xenons , i was just merely stating my setup . nah they don't work i get a whining noise but they don't actually move at all , I'm going to have a thorough look at some point but its not that high on the "to do " list lol

  10. Tbh they just make a mess and clean f all

Mine have been stolen anyway so i don't have the issue of them making a mess at the moment. Ill probably just get some blanks made up to replace them

  12. Stolen?

  13. Id try filling the washer fluid up, i think the pump for the headlights is half way up the tank or something. So if the fluid is below that, the pump makes a sound and nothing happens. Headlights on of course.

In regards to the sensor in the door not working are you sure you have a keyless entry? Don't mean to sound daft just that i have a std cup and that has the sensor panels behind the door handle but no sensor. AFAIK keyless entry is on FF and FF+cup.

Also if you do have keyless entry, it deactivates if you've locked the door with the button, reactivates once the engine has been started and stopped. This was the case anyway on a meg gt line i had previously.

    Hope this clears anything up!

Yep, Some Pikey cunt has stolen both my washers and covers on mine. When it was parked outside my house, In a very quiet village. Cunts.

Tell me about it, I've left the Megane in some proper dodgy shiteholes and never had anything happen to it, Leave it sitting outside my own home and stuff gets pinched.

  17. I have had a couple of times when getting into the car, i think that i have pulled the door handle before its twigged my hands there & it wont unlock, or not quite pulled it with my hand, just fingers. Then just lock it with rubber button & take it slower on the handle

  18. Thanks a lot for your responses, forums really are the tits haha!

    awsome, that's that diagnosed

washer is both sides. it's the infra red sensor thing.

OK sounds possible, I'll check that. And yes, I use the pressure washer at my work all the time. Would you know a possible solution if that is the caue?

    Sweet, ill check that.

Yep, headlights are on. And yes I am walking away from the car, not pressing the button. It locks fine as I walk away.

top tip on the washer fluid! thatd be a nice easy fix haha! and yeah 100% sure, it's fully loaded and worked when I bought the car.

  19. The leak in the footwell is also a known issue by Renault. I took mine in for this and they applied an official fix which involved relocating the scuttle drain.

Headlight washers, they only work when the washer fluid level is good. When the level gets low the pump make the noise but they don't work, think it's so you can use the low fluid level to wash your windscreen which I think you'll agree is more important!

  20. Out of curiosity was this covered by warranty?
