URGENT INFO REQUIRED: RS250 turbo and Forge Actuator . . .

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by richmeg, Feb 9, 2015.

  1. Yes it is . . .

    I thought;

    Green - 5-15 PSI

    Yellow - 15-23 PSI

So yellow should be correct spring. So not sure why its overboosting but it could be decat, turbo or actuator who knows.

I'm sure it will be fine after trip to RS Tuning but be nice to boot it a bit see what the new mods are offering.

Is that what Paul at RS Tuning recommended Andy?

Have you got any other cooling mods except from FMIC i.e. alloy rad/oil cooler?

  2. Dump valve spring rates.

Why dont you ring Forge to see what they say too.

  3. What boost is yours running with the yellow spring?

If you dont want it i will swap my green spring for your yellow one?

  4. Spring colors are same for actuator/re-circ as far as I can make it (and read on other forums).

I'm not sure what boost it is running now as I can't floor it but previously with the 225 turbocharger fitted it was about 1.1 bar . . .

  5. Rstuning should map it to suit no matter which actuator you run as long as its within your boost limits.

  6. I spoke to Tial when i needed an external wastegate and they told me to get the spring rate at my lowest level of boost.

I wanted no less than 1 bar so got a 1 bar spring. I had the low boost set at 1.1bar and high at 1.75bar.

They also said the max recommended boost for that spring should be 2 bar. That's not to say you cant run more than 2 bar with it because you can but why would you when there is a better application.

  7. Richmeg Have you bypassed your N75 to see what your actuator pressure is?

  8. Just spoke to Forge and he said

    Actuator springs
    Green 10psi
    Yellow 14.7 (1 bar)
    Blue 1.2 bar
    Red 1.4bar

Its best to get a spring within about 3psi of your maximum boost pressure as long as you dont want switchable boost levels.

Diverter springs are a bit different

    Green 1bar
    Yellow 22psi

didnt bother asking about the others as they would be too strong anyway.

  9. Ok so it seems yellow springs fitted to both is fine according to Forge . . .

I've not measured my actuator pressure bypassing the N75 valve (I wouldn't know how) as I can't reach max. boost (over-boosting-ECU overrides).

I'm sure RS Tuning will map whatever set-up yes, but if they recommend using the standard actuator over Forge surely they are the experts . . .

  10. They make the map suit the mods. You dont mod your car to suit a map.
RStuning have more than enough experience to map it with the forge items.

You dont need to bypass it now its 1bar.

  11. Ok I spoke to Paul @ RS Tuning he said to use the original 225 actuator if I had it . . .

I didn't get into a technical discussion but he said about having to limit the engines to 300bhp.

They are the experts to I'm going to swap the Forge for that I think.

  12. Is the 225 actuator the same as the 250 one?

  13. No.

  14. I believe I did say that

What with been there , seen it , got it on the car

  15. Did you say that specifically?? Can't recall . . . (-;

Do you have any other cooling mods mate i.e. alloy rad/oil cooler?

  16. No buddy . Not needed at the power we are running.

  17. What oil temps are you seeing Andy?

  18. Scan gauge doesn't read oil temps does it?

Would need to fit a sensor and separate gauge . . .

  19. No it dont.

I'm just waiting for my pod to mount my gauge so I can keep an eye on temps.

I'd rather have an oil cooler and not need it than need it and not have one.

  20. Not long now . . . still got two more appointments with the mechanic! S-:

  21. Ran all the cables through to fit my new gauge, if the fu@#ing pod ever arrives.

Fitted the powerflex lower mount inserts.

  22. Is that for the gearbox mount? Let me know if you notice much difference in lift off/gear changes etc.

  23. No its the rear lower engine one.

  24. Got sick of waiting for the pod to be delivered so I'm making my own.

Only got this far upto now but at least I can use it until I get a bit more time to angle it straight at me.

  25. Nice one, roll on Saturday.

If it don't arrive soon I will get my money back.

Not too keen on loosing a vent but it's only temporary.
