Hi I have a Megane 250 recently fitted my airtec want to get a decat and already have a panel filter in it. Not sure where to go what to buy for map. I'm in Swindon a mate had a bluefin on his with same spec went very well. Rs tuning is 4 hours away from me and ktec is a hour and 20. Then there's the rs tuner box? Cheers
RS tuning is the only option for me. There is a thread on here about the bluefin being poor , running lean and inducing knock if i remember correctly.
I lived in Swindon when I got mine done. I had mine done at K-Tec and couldn't have asked for a better service. There're a few K-tec nay-sayers on here due to experiences some have had, but I've had no problems at all in the 8k miles I've done since having mine mapped. It was also a very fun drive back to Swindon from Dorset afterwards. Some killer roads As for RS tuning, I can't say anything as have never made the trip Service-wise, K-Tec were superb when I was there and kept me updated throughout the time I was there. Went for their catback & remap performance pack and ended up with what I think are superb figures.
i had an RS250, took it to RS tuning, 4 hrs away, 312bhp with filter and cat back exhaust, its well worth the trip, car was transformed after the map. I also went to RS tuning for a few mods and remap on my R, wouldn't let anyone else near it.
Sorry to thread jump but does a map seriously make a huge difference? I have a mate with a 265 that was mapped by RS tuning which pulled 296bhp after map and it's marginally quicker than my 250 but only in the higher gears or when we go from very low revs! I always wonder whether a lot is in the head. And this is isn't trying to be awkward or a c*nt I'm just speaking from my experience and asking the question.
The infamous KTR figure multiplier effect as its commonly know. Really glad you are happy with your car though
Power. Its a funny old thing. Assuming your car is a healthy car and 265bhp , his being 296 is only 31 bhp more. So around 12% more. The figure needed to double a speed is eight times the power. I hope this gives some impression of the magnitude of power gain that you need to really destroy cars that you see in movies like the fast and furious. Something in the order of 100bhp is needed to be a hugely noticeable difference and provide a no hassle both flat out overtake ( imagine overtaking a corsa 1.4 for instance ) from personal experience As Dominic Tourreto said ( to keep a theme ) it does matter if you win by an inch or a mile.
A lot of 250s have been know to have much higher bhp than what renault claim. Few in the 270 region, if that was the case with yours then there wouldn't be much in it performance wise between yours and your mates cars.
Haha, I've seen similar posts and had the car dyno'd elsewhere and it pulled 2 more bhp and 2 more lb/ft, so I'm convinced True. Mine stock was at 255bhp which isn't much higher than claimed, but had 268lb/ft which I'd say is
Just collected my 'new' car from K-Tec and got a map thrown in as part of the deal. The figures are good and drive-ability also good. Stock mine was 268bhp - on Ktec's rolling road (previous owner had a print showing 269, so close enough for me!) and after the map now showing 302bhp with cat back and 360lbs ft torque. AFR and boost graphs really strong too so I'm happy. Now I'm home I'm attending a local club rolling road day so will be interesting to see what the 3rd rolling road says...
Congrats on the new car, glad to hear ktec have done a good job, would be nice to see the mapping side of their business come good and be another potential reputable mapper with rstuning
I'll be visiting k tec soon for a custom map already have a airtec fitted just deciding on a cat back or turbo back to go with it. And weather to go milltek resonated or ktec a exhaust as don't want it to loud
