Just a map, or...?

  1. Hi folks,

Well it's getting closer to that time of year where everyone starts spending money on their car again, and I've started looking at ways to improve my 225 Trophy. First thing will be tyres and brakes, but then I'm looking at popping over to RS Tuning for a remap. Now the original plan was to keep the car standard bar a map, but of course the temptation is there to go for a decat, exhaust and induction kit, along with other possible purchases... My 2 reasons for only wanting a map is my lack of a LSD and the fact I don't keep my cars long lol. So my question is if I do go and get it mapped, what other things should I buy that won't cost a fortune? Is an induction kit a waste of money? Is there much point in an exhaust? What gains will just a map see? What would Mr Sensible do??

  2. In my opinion? Decat and map. Other bits you can then ad on later without needing another map.

I wouldn't even bother with the decat. If your someone who doesn't keep cars long then just a simple map and enjoy it.

  4. Yer map is all you need

  5. I wouldn't do anything if you're not going to keep it long.

  6. I'm not saying I won't keep it, I'm just saying I don't usually lol.

  7. Same here. I was only going to keep the megane for a short while but now im keeping it.

I havent got lsd and should be around 320bhp end of the month.

I've got the box and a clutch in my shed ready though just incase.

Just go with a simple map for now then, If you do decide to keep it you can always add to it again which in turn should keep your interest in it

  9. Map + mid or back box chop, then you get the extra power plus better sound relatively cheaply. Decat does give more power, and especially makes a big difference to how the car pulls low to mid range but it's probably not something I'd have done if my cat hadn't been killed anyway by a knackered lambda sensor.

  10. Thanks lads

  11. Mines back on the road next month. Pop over for a drive and you can have a go
