Building a r26r rep.

  1. ooh that's expensive.

  2. Update....

i have the cage, false floor & all the rear end all fitted in. I had to make some brackets for the front part of the cage but besides that it was a straight fit.

i also fitted the drivers seat. I can't fit the passenger side yet as I have to connect up the amp to run the 6" focal components I have in the rear quarter panels & 5" jl audio components for the front.

before I finished up for the evening I fitted the r26r dash badge & gear surround & gear knob.

  3. Good stuff Lee, how did you manage to get that cage or did you have it manufactured?

would really love a cage, the Ktec one looks a bit rubbish in comparison, I am undecided on taking the plunge to buy a .R or just doing more mods to the R26 we've had for years for more track days!

  4. Just read the full thread, excellent work! well done on obtaining the parts!

  5. I would love to go out & buy a r but I also like building projects. When this car is built there are only 2 things that will give it away. The non genuine carbon bonnet & my door cards have the pockets in them. I can get a set of genuine r door cards but I would rather have the storage.

  6. I have a project car that I never have time to work on! I've put a few .R bits on my missus R26 (Gen bonnet and spoiler), not wanting it to be a replica I just want it to be good for track, going to get the steering wheel done, and maybe a Ktec cage along with some performance upgrades

  7. I was pretty lucky in getting all the right bits from 1 car. There was a few exterior bits I needed to source but part are still available from the dealers.

  8. Brilliant work Lee love this and look forward to more updates.

  9. I'm hoping that it will all be finished in another couple of weeks ready for Cadwell. I need to get 4 tyres, coilovers & a set of 350mm brake rotors. Then phase 1 will be complete. Phase 2 will be the engine, turbo & fuel system. This will happen later in the year.

  10. Looking good mate , what Coilovers you going for ?

  11. I'm going for the bc ones for now. I'll see how they go & maybe upgrade to kW v3's. I want it finished in time for Cadwell.

  12. I'll be doing Cadwell on the 14th lee I'll book it tomorrow

  13. Where did you get the boot carpet?

  14. 350mm rotors? Big brake kit eh?

Car looks great can't wait to see it finished.

  15. the carpet came with the rest of the interior from #27.

  16. i had 356mm rotors on my last one. When I sold the car I put the standard brakes back on it.
    Lee

  17. if you text me the details Steve ill book it aswell.
    Lee

  18. Looking good Lee, its coming along nicely now.

I wish Renault would sell those seat side-mounts and runners at a reasonable price too.

  19. There about 2k a side, bargain mark lol

  20. Any details on your last kit/new one?

  21. I didn't think 356 rotors would fit ? interested

  22. with different calipers yup

  23. any other info?

  24. Well the front end is all built up. I also fitted a forge intercooler at the same time.

I had to use the auto finesse 3 stage system on my bonnet as it has a good few storage marks on it.

  25. it is the old brake kit I had on my 225. It utilises the oem brembo calipers with alloy bells & 356mm discs. The issues I had was that there wasn't enough clearance between the disc & caliper when hot. So I thought I would drop from 356 down to 350mm giving me an extra 3mm clearance.

    Not at the minute. :worried:

  29. Lee could you pm me the details for those brakes please.

  30. Wish I had the talent, and money to build a track car :worried: ...one day lol

  31. ill measure up the pcd ect & let you know. I'll also take some pics of the caliper spacers.
    Lee

  32. Lee where did you buy the brakes from? Very interested in the details.

  33. I bought the alloy bells off an old member off the other site. I can get them copied for £250 from an engineering place near me. The discs are ap racing items that are readily available. The spacers & the bolts were made by the same engineering shop.

I'll probably want some of those TBH.

  35. I've got to go & see them to sort my shortshift so I'll mention it when I'm there
    lee

  36. Nice one Lee. See if they will do a few sets , group buy maybe? They do the caliper spacers too?

  37. Yes they do the job lot.
    Lee

  38. Lee have you got a drawing for the bells and spacers, I have a lot of stuff reverse engineered and manufacture at a local machine shop through work. I could see what price they would knock a set up for.

  39. I'll get some pics & spec up tomorrow

  40. Quick update.

Well while waiting for the window man to turn up & fit my windscreen & rear polycarbonate windows I thought I would do a few bits
    So....

    I fitted my steering wheel.

Speaker pods, also wired the tweeter & crossovers in.

I also finished making my short shift.

It was at this point that I got a telephone call to say my window man had been held up & wouldn't be able to make it. So this was as far as I got today.

    Lee.
