Hi all, First post for me in ages! Driving recently and putting my foot down I heard my car sounding like a machine gun, slight hesitation but no turbo screaming which is at least a good thing?! Ideas? Coilpacks, injectors? I have been in need to do the injectors for some time now, I will need to get it done asap as well as my clutch! Any information will be appreciated! Cheers fellas,
Sounds like a miss-fire. As you say, coilpack, injectors or leads. Any error message come up? That would be the easiest way to tell.
Nah mate. Nothing has come up yet... Haven't drove it since. But will get it sorted if I can pin point the issue. Will have a look over the weekend
Sounds like its a coil what's gone mate. I had exactly the same issue. I don't think it would do the machine gun noise while driving if it's the injectors, it's normally a cough on idle
I will do a video tomorrow if you can wait, mine is doing it at the mo, just ordered some new injectors!
it's happened twice to me now and each time I just replaced the single coil what was dead. Obviously though it's up to you if you want replace all 4. The second time it happened it was on a Sunday so I got one from wilco motosave who stock them for 18 quid. It was the only place that I knew of who made it possible to repair on a Sunday but it's been spot on. There 48 quid each from Renault If I remember correctly from the first one that went on me
Had injectors cleaned on Saturday.... Doesn't seem to "cough" as much on idle any more... still get it like every 30/40 seconds, but I think this could be normal and maybe due to the exhaust (no boxes). Tests shown that 2 injectors were 20% lower than what they should have been! Drove it after the injectors had been changed, feels a lot better! and not had the machine gun noise, so will wait for that to occur before I go and splash the cash!
Ok, so I had my injectors cleaned, seemed to be fine, but I'm still getting the cough every now and then after a drive, is this down to the coilpacks? Cheers lads,
What fuel you using? I had exactly the same problem this month ive put in different coils and injectors and cured it by changing fuel. The tesco momentum is usually great but recently it must be a bad batch.
I'm using the exact same fuel. 99 momentum fuel. That's all I use. Hmmmm people have always said no to use supermarket fuel!!
I've been using momentum for years mate it's usually very good and I'll try it again in a few weeks see if it's any better. Try putting in the shell nitro as soon as I put that in I've not had any problems.
I stopped using Tesco momentum fuel as a large percentage of it is actually biofuel and I dont think the mk2 megane likes it all that much. I was getting knock sensor errors whilst using it (felt like misfires) that have completely cleared up having since gone back to shell v-power.
