New tyres - Vredestein Ultra Vorti

  1. Just having some new rubber fitted at Northwest Performance in Northwich.

Wanted to test these Vredestein Ultra Vorti on my 19" to see how they compare to Michelin etc. evo had them in their 2014 test and they didn't do too bad.

    Watch this space.

  2. Im going to test these aswell, i've not heard much about them.

I ordered mine of camskill for £85 quid a corner(18''). It will be intresting to see how they compare against the more expensive tyres and hopefully they last longer than the dunlops i have on now.

  3. I've had them fitted on the front and they're nearly ready for a change tbh.

Loved them , I've had Eagle F1's, Conti 2s and 3s Michelin PS3s, Pirellis and while the Eagles F1s were probably equal in terms of grip and feedback they lacked the side wall strength so felt a bit 'soft' on turn in and around corners.

They have stood up to a lot of abuse as well as boring general day to day driving and for the price? I just checked and they're £85 a corner now?!?! Serious bargain if they stay like that.

I did a track day on them and never felt they lacked grip, if anything they showed up the Pirellis I have on the rear given most of the day was spent like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79fDRX8CL4E

  4. I just checked what I paid for two a while back [ £ 223.20] so mega bargain at the current price. I don't even need some but I think I might order a set next week for when I do.

  5. Well that's assuring to hear! Any recommendations on how many miles should bed them in?

  6. I can't think they took any really, they still seem to be going well at the end of their life too. I've had issues with tyres going hard/off before but these seem to be doing just as well.

Not great in the snow mind, but I'm not sure any tyre like these would be. It's been noticeable when the temperatures dropped below 5 degrees the grip tailed off, but again, not really any different to most non-winter tyres.

  7. Cheers Twig.

Yeah seems more and more people get two sets for the different seasons these days. I haven't but we don't really get more than a few mm of snow each year.

  8. I use Vortis and have to say prefer them over the PS3, much better in every department.

against the PS2 wet grip much better than but I think the PS 2 felt gripper in the dry.

they last much longer and are overall better value than the michelin hence why I use them for the road. Nothing more heart breaking than slapping on a new set of michelin rubber only to find a screw in them a few weeks later!

  9. Bloody lucky guys, Vredestein no longer available in South Africa, i been trying to score a set for ages as i heard they were pretty good; just swapped out conti 5p for eagle f1 assym2 but still getting a feel;
From what i have understood, the Ultracs are going to give you 90% of the performance of the premium stuff for a fraction of the price, so i reckon youre sorted mate

  10. I had these on my MK5 Gti and they were excellent, definitely my tyre of choice.

  11. I have them on my 230. Excellent tyre. Very stiff sidewall so decent steering response! Plenty of dry and wet grip, and progressive on the limit.. They outperformed most things this side of full race wets at a recent very wet trackday at Rockingham..

  12. I got these fitted all round last week. Seem good so far!
