Rocker cover . . . anyone replaced???

  1. Guys,

    There is a corner of my rocker cover that has been smashed off and re-attached with some sort of sealant.

    It has never caused me any problems but it is rather unsightly, so I've had a word with my mechanic about welding it.

    In the meantime I've noticed a spare cover on Ebay;

    What's peoples thoughts on fitting this as would be a lot cheaper than having mine welded.

    My mechanic is skeptical because he says the rocker cover/cylinder head etc. were machined together.

    Thanks,

    Rich

  2. If its cheaper I would get the ebay one.

  3. As above I thought they were machined together but if yours is broken and needs replacing is there a choice?

    It's not advised to swap the cam covers / heads around, they are manufactured (line bored) as a matched pair from the factory.

  5. What are you supposed to do if your original one is beyond repair?

    I know not very likely but it could happen.

  6. As Gray says, it was a massive no no on the clio's

  7. My Mechanic did suspect, so looks like I will need to get the original one welded if I'm to dress it up.

    Just told me my water pump is leaking as well, only fitted Aug 13 by another mechanic, so sadly out of warranty as well S-:
