Hi all, Just joined the forum having spent time reading up before taking the plunge and buying a R26.R. The car arrives on Friday and as you would expect I'm rather looking forward to it. Its Lunar Grey, Black Wheels with cage and titanium exhaust. Its not got the stickers/decal's which is my preference, (cue shouting and general "how could you" comments) but each to there own, plus I have allot of grey hair so its allowed! Car has a few non standard bits which I will post about with photos once the car is with me. It will not be used every day, but will be driven regularly and will spend time on track. The test drive had me laughing with the handling and general composure, along with the fact it sounds so damn good. I'm based near Exeter in Devon, and Dartmoor/Exmoor will be so good in the R26.R. Look forward to meeting some of you in the future. Richard
Welcome, I was looking at that the other day, Good price for it! Lunar is my favourite colour for them as well, Just needs red wheels to be perfect, Stickers i can take or leave
welcome to the club, and it makes everyone smile the roads around exeter and exmoor are great, used to bomb around there
Yes mate that's the one. Its had a fortune spent on it that includes an upgraded forged engine, bigger brakes etc. I know the people that prepared it and have spent along time talking to the original owner, so although I was concerned about it being played around with I've decided to have a go with it. The digi dash system has full data logging which I have on another car and it is a very impressive bit of kit. It also comes with 3 sets of wheels so I guess I could get one set painted red and see if #supertouring is right about them!! Nicest thing is there is a huge folder of paperwork and details about whats been done and its been very well thought through, plus its done 7000 miles from new. Digi dash here -
LG is my favorite color for an .r but I personally think it needs the stickers just to stop people thinking they forgot to paint it and left the car in primer. Spec and color choice are spot in though. Looks brilliant.
I was looking at the the other day too .. Had some money spent on it for sure Will be quick on track , are you planning any trackdays ?
Yes I do quite a few track days every year and I'm really looking forward to getting it on track. It will be with me on Friday and we will be testing with it on a private hill climb on Saturday. Going to figure it against a couple of other cars to see how it performs. Weather's looking dry so should be fun, however it has a set of wets with it so shouldn't matter either way. The previous owner (owned from new) says it is sensational in the wet, so sort of hoping for some really.
What suspension has it got fitted ? They handle brilliant in the wet and dry really ... A few of us should be at cadwell park March 14th if you fancy that ? Might be a bit too far for you tho
Don't know the exact suspension spec yet, but will let you know once its arrived and I have had a chance to sift through all paperwork. As far as I'm aware the standard set up is pretty bloody impressive, but I will wait and see what it is running. Cadwell Park isn't too far, been around there a few times before, although it is a trek to get too. Is the 14th March an open event or something this club has arranged? I will check the diary but would love to tag along if its possible.
Yea its a javelin trackday , open Pitlane A few on Megsport booked allready , I'll create a thread on here when I've booked on
I've just bought some more R wheels got them for a good price brand new and a new set of pilot super sports
Hi & welcome along. You will find both useful & useless information on here. More useful though. Plenty do track days too lee
Welcome greyingfast and wow what a great motor mate and good for you at snapping that up hope you enjoy, I love the non decal stealth look on that beast too
Thanks for all the welcome's. Good to see that there a few people who share my thoughts on the non decal look, I love it. Car will be arriving tomorrow at about lunchtime, properly excited. Couple of my mates are thoroughly bemused about why I have bought a Megane, comments such as "why do you want that thing?" and "The bonnets a different colour and looks all speckly mate", little do they know eh!! My missus comment of "Haven't you got enough cars, there aren't even back seats for the kids you prat" was more difficult to argue but too late its on its way love....ha ha. I've only ever seen 1 other .R on the road, anyone on here close to Devon with one? Pictures and some prattling about it to follow once it is here. Just searching on Ebay for some lighter clothes, don't want to undo all of Renault's good work on weight saving!!
Come on - I'm supposed to be concentrating at work, already distracted by new car arrival, and you lot are talking about Pies & Beer....
ITS ARRIVED......YIPPPPEEEEEEEE. In answer to your suspension question its running a KW Clubsport set up, which on first impressions is very good indeed.
