anyone else getting this with the 225, cant remember it happening on my old 225. handbrake basically stuck on although released on the actual handle. ive read that its because of the freezing temps and frost were getting at the minute. Most annoying. if i heat the discs and pads up it releases after a bit of time obviously i need to start leaving the handbrake off at night but worried it would probably end up rolling somewhere even if i did secure it properly lol
Lol it won't mate if it's in gear, if your still worried place a few bricks infront and behind a tyre
The rear pad is slightly binding thats all, soon as you pull away on the bite point of the clutch it free's
Put it in opposite gear then. If facing downhill, put it in reverse. If facing uphill put it in a forward gear.
Guys this has happened to me today, car felt sapped of power then I realised it I wasn't rolling back at junctions with no brakes applied. When I got to the office car park I parked on a slight incline and the car won't move even with no brakes applied. I've had a look and it seems its the front brakes which are sticking. How did you guys get around it? handbrake normally takes 3-4 clicks to hold but it seems I've lost the first click.
Could just be general muck and crap, have you tried popping the pads out and giving the callipers a good clean with soapy water? The re-greasing the pads and pins before re-assembling..
It's purely just down to weather or damp in the air. For instance if I park my car, wash it and don't move it, the pads will be stuck to the discs in the morning. And it pretty much does it every morning just now with it being so cold. Still does it with the handbrake off too because my front ones stick aswel and my pads are all free. My 200 was really bad, it would stick so bad I could hardly move the car sometimes.
Your pads will be seized in the caliper, just a build up of crap, good strip, clean and grease and you'll be fine. Pins will probably be seized if it's binding so bad.
That was my thinking, they have been fine no squeeks before this morning so I'm hoping its just a one off with the freezing weather. I've just took it to the garage I use for MOTs which is only down the road and theyre not sticking at all now. They said they'll need to get the car up on a ramp and take the fronts apart and give them a good clean as the chances are its seized pads. They said see how I get on tomorrow and to get in touch if its still happening.
Mine did this again this morning strange as it has been much colder previous days but only happened today. Its turned by abs and esp light on as i drove it. Its unstuck itself now
