265 RS button.

  1. Can anyone confirm that shortly pressing the button once to put the car into 'sport mode' gives you the little extra power or does it just sharpen the throttle?

I'm pretty convinced it only gives you the extra power when the TCS/ESP is fully off, ie pressing and holding the button until the beep.
    Anyone feel the same?

  2. Yup extra 15 horses Mike. The car starts in normal mode which is 250, pressing the sport button gives you the whole 265.

  3. Cool. I would swear the car feels faster with the TCS/ESP fully off than with it just in sport mode with TCS/ESP on.
    Maybe my imagination.

  4. Yep your imagination lol

Has anyone had their car dynoed side by side with the button off and on?

it'd be interesting to see it on a graph as don't these normally make over book power anyway?

  6. Dont think so cos in 250 mode you have all traction and esp on so inguess it doesnt run properly on the dyno... they always run with traction etc off but yeah id like to see too. I know from my scangauge i run like 4-5psi more boost in sport mode

    Very interesting.

But im going to stop asking questions as I've just managed to ween myself off the idea of getting a 265 lol.

  8. Lol, definitely get a 265. Do it do it do it!

  9. 250s do make more than book figure so I'm intrigued to see if the normal mode on the 265 is actually 250 or is it 270 and then with a press gives 285 etc.

I've had 2 megs 250s make 270bhp standard at different rollers, one at the hub and the other on a rolling road.

  10. My 265 made 295.3 standard on the rollers. That was in sport mode obviously.

  11. 295! Awesome... What would a remap push these too? 340?

  12. ^no way

  13. Na the 250 benefits more from a map as it doesn't run as much standard. A map will see between 300-310bhp.

    Even on mine.

  14. Ah wishful thinking lol

  15. Say wha!? This on ktecs rollers? Lol

im intruiged on mine, feels about the same pace to 90-100ish as my stage 1 r26 (260bhp) but its 4th gear that it tanks away so id guess 270? Could be placebo aswell i guess, no interior and 2 seats in the r26 vs full fat 265 she aint light lol

  16. Was at ecotune in Glasgow, well known tuners with pretty accurate rollers, the first run it did 280ish but the 3 after that were 293, 295 and 291. I've seen another one be RR'd at a different location and pull 291 standard.
Mine walks all over my mates RStuning stage 1 R26 (260).

  17. Cant imagine much difference tbh if you compare power to weights but ill take your word for it!

will get mine on the rollers when i can, anything over 265 would be a plus lol

  18. the sport mode switch messes with torque map rather than just more HP map

  19. Why not? There's only 40kg of difference between an R26 and a 265 cup.

  20. Infact it's less than that, R26 is 1355kg compared to 1379kg for the 265 so theres virtually no difference.

Megane 265 is actually 1411kg so is 56kg heavier

  22. Not trying to argue about it mate, but stage 1 r26 is lighter and will make at least as much torque as a standard 265 so the only difference is bhp 260 vs (arguable) 295. The power to weight wont be much different. All im saying is i cant see you 'walking over' a stage 1 r26, unless your mate cant drive it thats all

  23. Here you go point of reference

    R26 - 14.62 quarter mile - 174bhp/tonne
    r26.r (120 odd kg lighter) - 14.30 - 189bhp/tonne
265 - no paper quarter mile but 191bhp/tonne

arguably a standard 265 and an r26.r would be neck and neck to 100mph and thus you racing a standard r26 would be 0.32 secs quicker to 100mph (only paper) but you say you have an extra 30bhp over stock, but your mates is r26 is 35bhp over stock so arguably it could even be quicker it would come down to traction and gearing!

  25. I'm keen to get mine on the rollers to see what it's putting out in standard form. Coming from a tuned R26 with 290bhp the 265 feels just as quick and pulls harder at the top end. But that's just my arse dyno

  26. I'm not arguing about it either, I have the graph to prove my figures. And we (me and my mate) did a few straight line runs, rolling starts from 3rd gear which was neck and neck but the 265 pulls away as soon as you engage 4th. I'd recommend you try it you'll be surprised at the outcome.

  27. Do it, you won't be disappointed. One of my friends has a hawk eye STI (standard 305bhp) and the Meg sticks to its ass until around 130mph then the scoob pulls away. I'm always impressed with how fast it is out the box.

  28. I struggle seeing a 295bhp 265 standard thats all, never seen one over 275/280 ish, havent seen any on the french forum either but arguably could have a strong one!

Anyway the outcome is its neck and neck to 100mph and then you start pulling away in 4th, like my original post, Bah!

  29. Out of interest what was the torque figure miles over too? Can you share it im intruiged thats all!

  30. I don't understand why it's hard for you to believe, the 250 makes 270 standard.

    The torque figure was 304ibft
The 280bhp run was the car not 100% hot as it was sitting for near an hour beforehand 62790c1d93a680232bd955abc710f02e.jpg

  31. Peak torques meant to be 265lb thats all, so you have another 40lb peak torque standard. But hey im not pointing fingers!

  32. A stock 250 will pull 275-280ib

  33. A different perspective -

    My stock 250 pulled 271BHP @ RSTuning.

  36. Possibly, it just says excluding driver.

  37. I swear my 225 is also.

  38. It depends on what you define as 'walk all over'

For me, my honda fireblade walks all over my car.

On the other hand my dads M135i gently accelerates away from it.

And then even less so my R26 is only fractionally faster than my Civic type r ep3.

So in my experience, in the car world it takes large bhp advantages before you see massive differences on the road.
