May think about doing these again,
I have 2 or 3 knocking around the garage

  2. I knew I'd always be too late to the party with this. I have family who live in Bideford but have't had a chance to visit since my lad was born two years ago. I was going to tie in a trip down there with Andrew machining/fitting while-u-wait. Would you ever contemplate doing that Andrew? I'll pay you more (but not the Ktec price!!!).

I sent my old one back the day after I got sent my new one - is it not common sense not to buy something on exchange that you don't plan on fitting for weeks/months?

Sad you're chucking it in fella but I'm actually amazed you've kept it up for as long as you have!

  4. Blimey,never seen so many reply's to a thread,so fast!
Its a real shame that this has ended, but its been going this way for sometime with me having to chase people for linkages.
As well as my friends who do the machining work, are super busy with expensive contracts, and working all hours, which buggers up saturday fitment.

What i will try to do is have a word with them about allocating the odd weekend to fitting a few in one go,they might go for that.

  5. Shame! i didn't think it was a big job to fit one?! sure there was a step by step guide.

  6. Such a shame, a short shift was a definite on the to do list after christmas!

  7. Let me know if you do Mark, I'll have one fitted when I book in for a service after Christmas.

  8. They are 129, but sure Ads could get it cheaper. I have been in and asked!

  9. Yes,but then you have to machine it..thats the big cost, thats why we only set it up when we had 3 available.
Also the linkage itself is not available, you have to buy the entire actuator/linkage complete.

  10. yeah I was meaning for the whole actuator, I know it costs mate, and understand why you only set up once you have a few to go at.
Have you got any un modified that would sell on? I have machines at work I could use to have a go at making one.

    Thanks

  11. I am visiting tomorrow mark , I will have one then lol, damn is 15hrs notice enough

  12. I really wanted this mod. So I did a dummy run first to see if I could get the linkage out. Got as far as the battery tray which had a rusted screw. Wouldn't budge and ended up rounding it off. So I gave up and put it all back together.

  14. Shame as it's something I wanted done on mine in the new year

Hi Andrew, can I request some details about the shortshift for those that may be lucky enough to know someone or work in an engineering company that could do this mod for themselves. Can you confirm the centre distance from pivot to the new hole position. What clearance is required around the new hole. Do you know what the ball diameter is. The reason for asking is that I would prefer to source a new ball pin with thread prior to modding the linkage and not have to thread the existing one. Please pm me if you prefer. Thanks Rob

  16. Don't forget.....if you have one available give me a shout and I will drive down cash in hand.

All the idiots should be ashamed of themselves........

  17. The is a guide in the guide section!

I can't see any mention of the ballsize. Just wanted the specific machining info and ballpin size just so I could plan what tooling was needed and order a threaded ball pin, and to save stripping out the car to measure the ball. No worries, i will take a look over christmas hols and post details for orhers. The guide is very good. Thanks. Rob

  19. I paid a rather large deposit when purchasing mine. Once received it did take me two or three weeks to fit it but life is busy and people have little time these days. Cars are at the bottom of my priority behinds friends, work and family. It takes time, you can't expect everyone to return them next day and if they do mess about surely that's what the deposit was for?

Once fitted I sent it back ASAP and got my £100 back immediately. Great mod and easy service.

  20. The whole idea of doing this was for meganesport club members..it was never intended to be a massive money making exercise..how can it be when you charge £65??..have you seen how much ktec charge?
I charged a £50 deposit, which wouldnt cover a fraction of buying a new linkage and machining it..if you charged what it cost to replace, you simply wouldnt get any takers,as well as keeping the price low, so guys could easily afford one.

Also if you go about keeping peoples money it would have turned ugly ,very fast, then you run into legal implications..for£65?

2 weeks is not a un reasonable amount of time to fit one..why order it if you have no intention of fitting it for months.
For example,i have just got one back i sent out in september...3 months..without so much as a reason why, then immediately asked for his deposit back quick smart.

We never even added the cost of my admin work, packaging and time to shuttle back and forth to the post office.

So we relied on having at least 3 at a time to minimize wasted time..out of the 7 i sent out dating back to august i have 3 back in total,as well as one of my phase 1 linkages dissapearing.

  21. Cant believe it only just joined and the first thing I wanted done was this, guess I will try in myself.

  22. K-tec brought out a short shifter mod a few months ago- from pics on meganesport.net of the changes to the linkage on the AJ mod the ktec one looks almost identical. I have fitted this to my motor, and it is as good as everyone says, its not cheap though, but means no faffing around with having your car off the road....depends on how bad you want it.....

There is another mod that works in a different way made by another manufacturer thats a lot cheaper - there's a thread about it on the group buy section I think......

  23. Might look into getting the engine dynamics one, the ktec one is £££££

  24. Just fitted mine from Engine Dynamics. Gone has the vague feel of the gearbox. Worth every penny of £115 that I paid.

  25. Quite possbily, we do supply Engine Dynamics forged goodies so I cant see why not.

  26. Do it! I'd personally rather buy from and support a board sponsor

  27. Thank you

  28. Get 10 in stock angel, I'm sure you'll seel them mate

  29. Go for it!!!

  30. I would have one, what is your website.

  31. You buy one from engine dynamics

I can supply them but on a drive in only service as I can't be bothered with all the shit that comes with posting them out

  33. how much mark?
