Trophy - r clutch

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Tiemen, Jan 7, 2015.

  1. Does anyone knows if the the clutch of the trophy-r is the same as the 250/265? Or is it uprated like the r26r.

  2. I wouldn't see why they'd need to uprate it for an extra 10bhp... Mine used to run 310 on a stage one and the clutch coped perfectly.

Same, There is no mechanical difference between them other than Exhaust and a different calibration out the factory.

  4. There was also no reason for the clutch from the r26r and that was only 5bhp

  5. I don't think it would be uprated due to power, if anything they'd of uprated so it would stand up to more abuse possibly?

Best thing to do is get the part numbers and do some digging

  6. But the differences between a 230 and R26.R is substantial, the difference between a 275 and Trophy R is not.

  7. Only in the weight of the car and the tyres. I understood that the engine, engine map, and drivetrain were all exactly the same?

  8. Bar the clutch and optional titanium exhaust i thought that too, they do have revised damper/ spring rates and obviously you have the cosmetic and weight saving stuff, cage but thats it.
I would think theres more difference with the trophy R tbh with its fancy ohlin dampers and composite springs, especially if you spec it up with the lithium battery + bigger/ lighter brake discs

  9. Would be interesting to find out why Renault did fit a different clutch to the R26.R..

I know when my current clutch goes I will be moving to the R26.R setup in the hope it is a bit better, but really no idea what the difference is between the R26 and R26.R setups.

I believe the only difference is a 20% increase in pressure on the clutch between the R26 and the .R and that's it really. Still, if you're replacing it like I will be soon it's apparently the upgrade.

  11. Thanks, it does make sense to upgrade to it.

And sorry Tiemen for hijacking the thread.
