I have just driven my R26 home from btm in Birmingham after dropping it off on Tuesday morning. I took it in as it had failed the MOT on the emissions. After a lot of investigation, Fred discovered that my cat had been hollowed out! The injectors were also not functioning quite right and my new lambda was broken! After 5 days of working day and night, Fred has solved the problem but also found and fixed others whilst he was there! He put a new cv boot clip on and fixed my broken dump valve! He was also extremely reasonably priced, as I was expecting a mahoosive bill like I've received in the past. I can't speak highly enough of Fred and his work and would recommend him to anyone, even if it takes an overnight stay in brum! He almost makes me want to keep my Meg for a bit longer! One of a kind top bloke!
No it didn't have a heat shield on so he used a spare one he had at no extra cost. Still might need injectors looking as as it has a tiny misfire on tickover, but I've got that side of it warrantied! I'm just amazed that he knew so much about these cars and was willing to help so much! He's currently fixing up a 450bhp r26 which sounds absolutely nuts!
Cambelt is due this year. I also need a new aircon radiator and a few other niggles. Anyone got his number or know his rates?
Have a look on his website BTM performance it should have his contract details Kev. Fred is highly recommended but also extremely busy as a result.
I went to him before for a major service on my 172, and a mates 197. Will no dought use again if I need to (touch wood)
I think you have my cat as I left it there! Haha! I'll ask him next weekend as I'm booked in for two days.
Only almost makes you want to keep the Meg? lol they are so expensive - mine sunk 3 grand in 14 months before I got rid.
I just use Mick when I need to. I know Fred is good, but Mick's just as good and you don't need to fuel him on red bull haha.
Yeah there is that, I'll keep it for a few more months and then see where I stand money wise etc, I'd love a 250 otherwise it's an Audi A3 diesel so I can afford a car that costs a bomb to fix! How are the newer megs maintenance wise?
Did you buy this megane from someone in west London? I think I was going to view it after you but you had put a deposit on it.
Indeedy! It's been flocked, I don't like it personally but that's fairly low down on my list of things to do!
