Firstly, a very Happy New Year to all Now, as the title suggests I am trying to decide on the right RS Megane for me. Really want know how different the 265 is with or without the Cup pack Thing is, I love the look of the car but don't want a bone shaker as I'm 52 with lower back issues. My car history is lot's of Impreza's interupted by the odd Evo 7 or 8 an old 911 and a Jag XJR The missus has to be able to drive it occasionally (she wont be seen in a scooby any more due to all the chavved up examples) I guess what i am trying to ask is, do I really need the Cup version, as I need a bit of comfort and wont be doing any track days, just the odd A and B road blast PS Ktec racing are 1 1/2 miles from my home. Thanks Geoff
If you was after a 250 non cup, my cars for sale http://www.rsmegane.com/showthread.php?5348-For-sale-Megane-Renaultsport-250-sport-(full-fat)
I have a compressed L4 disk, cup pack is very compliant and the standard seats along with 18's make it a pretty nice and heated seats are bliss. I moved from a 200 and the Meg in comparison is like a Rolls
I'd choose the cup pack with 18" wheels. I've got the 19" steev on my 265 with the cup pack and its not a bone shattering ride by any means bit it's not as forgiving as the 18" The cup argument as to whether it's worth it is a touchy subject. Personally I think it makes the car and regardless of whether or not you track the car a b road blast still benefits from the lsd. Happy hunting.
I'd have to agree - my cup is so much softer than my clio 197 non cup, and on a par with my girlfriends VW Polo for comfort over bumps.... Also the residual values for a cup specced car will be higher. I think you need to drive both cars really, and make your decision on how it feels - I don't think the 'cup' suspension will make it anymore of a back issue for you. I've just done 700 miles over xmas and didn't get uncomfortable at all!
I have cup pack but on 18's and its not firm at all, the damping is miles above that on my old r26 cup all day if you want the most from the car
Lets see how long it takes for "it" to post in here. Cup if you want to experience what these cars are all about, Non cup if you just want the looks.
I have the Cup pack on the 250 and its not a hard ride at all, and 95% of the time you don't notice the LSD, I personally would just not take it in to account when buying it, unless your after pure performance.
Well you've opened the can - I'm looking for somewhere to get my next service done. They're an option...
I'd guess they could handle a service without an issue, they have a pretty mixed reputation from the owners I've met down that way.
Mixed reputation full stop. There are those that swear by them, and those that wouldn't let them near their pride and joy. I'm in the latter group, not on reputation but on the quality of work they've done that I've personally seen. But there are others that will be happy with them. Your car, your money, your choice at the end of the day.
I wouldn't personally let them work on mine either but i have bought parts from them before with no issues, Reasonably priced tbf
Thanks for all the replies chaps, I have now found a second hand 250 I couldn't refuse. Will start a new thread once it's safely parked on my drive
