So after only 18 months I've already parted with my 265 Trophy. I absolutely loved this car from start to finish, it was faultless and fantastic in every way. My last memories of it are at a waterlogged Bedford autodrome trackday where it was unstoppable. Only reason I sold was because my dream car finally tempted me over. Anyway how she stood on the day I sold it: And the replacement: Evo 9 FQ360 by HKS edition, pretty much mint just needs a few little things tidied up to get it upto my standards and hopefully an uprated intercooler, downpipe and remap should see me to 400bhp all before next season. So thanks to everyone and the club for keeping me company over the past two years, I'll still hang around as I still have the 225.
Lovely job, hope you have deep pockets....at least fuel is cheaper now! glad the megane was a hoot, they always come back
Very very nice but didn't really see that coming as I was scrolling down thought it would have been a merc or something lol don't know why tho haha I would love an evo at some point but the cost kind of put me off, miby in the future when the kids are a bit older and stuff then I would definitely scratch that itch
Cracking car! Im jealous. Your inbox in full at the moment Ben. Could you clear a space as I want to send you on a message
Cheers for all the comments chaps. Its certainly a special car just a shame I bought it this time of year I've only done about 600 miles in it and spent the last month tucked up in the garage. Already stocking up the parts including uprated intercooler, KW coilovers, under bonnet bling and some carbon! Still I do miss my 265, I have a very soft spot for that car and I wouldn't consider it any less capable than an evo really. Inbox cleared.
Small update for anyone interested. Loved my first 6 months with this beasty, taking it down a twisty road you can't help but feel like a WRC champion setting the record time! although it takes a brave man to really get the best out of this car, whereas the Renaults I would throw about corner to corner the Evo required a lot more respect. Its more a case of put your foot down, turbo spools, oh shit I'm breaking the law... Anyway done some work on it so here's the update. Fully refurbed wheels, acid dipped back to bare metal before being layered back up. New Michelin PS3s all round as this will predominantly be a road car Shiny bits Carbon splitter carbon plate holder Fresh sump with stainless fittings Cosworth crankshaft oil scraper Refurbed calipers with new discs, pads and fittings all round Bigger bore turbo elbow New Kakimoto exhaust and 3 inch downpipe imported from Japan, very rare and incredibly loud as you can see by the minimal box New alloy undertray for improved aerodynamics, engine cooling and protection Evo ownership, all this every 3000 miles! Front end blown over with a little arch bubbling sorted
Remap at DynoTech with twin switchable maps, low and high boost. 368bhp @ 1.4 bar and 407bhp - 440lb/ft torque @ 1.7 bar boost. still got these to fit when I can few pics of how she stands Thanks for looking. Comments welcome
FIT. Out of interest, what economy do you see out of it? Plan on owning an VIII at some point in the future!
Always got a soft spot for these. Had a VI and a VII and they are truly epic when your on it. Many fun days/nights on MLR runs and chucking it round Knockhill. Had the AYC overload mid corner on me and switch off mid corner while drifting, which was interesting. Managed to do a tank of fuel round Knockhill in 30 miles. Your trophy was also a cracking looking car
. Absolutely a hero's car right there fella, could you get a video up of the exhaust and miby a drive away, may aswell not having a back box haha
Thanks for all the kind comments guys. On a run I've actually managed 26mpg but the FQ400 tested on top gear a few years back holds the lowest mpg record on their test track at 3mpg! It has a tiny tank of around 50ltrs as the propshaft runs through the middle! A full tank usually gets me little over 200 miles with mixed driving.
