Handbrake push button

  1. Had a bit of a nightmare, the plastic push button that allows you to realise the handbrake has snapped.

Was just wondering if anyone knows a part number or the best/easiest place to get a new one?

  3. That did cross my mind too......

    You busy tomorrow Mark?

  4. Yep mine did this a few months back, got quoted 330 quid to replace the whole handbrake by Reno. But there may be someone breaking a megane for spares. You can pull the button with pliers so at least it works but button will keep falling out.

  5. Yes I can still release the handbrake by manually just pulling the actual cable, so I can deal with that in the short term.

But how do I go about fixing the problem? Do I just need to order a brand new handbrake handle itself or........?

  6. A new one of a good second hand one. Expect to pay £250 is (maybe a little less) for a new one or around £50 for a second hand one

  7. I have one for sale

  8. Ok thanks, just to clarify then I don't need to replace the handbrake cable? Just the handle?

  9. PM'ed back.

  10. Yes. Just the handle.

  13. Ahwell its not just me then lol, my button is snot snapped or broken, its just comes out now and again , surely you can just buy a new button and not the the complete handrake system as there is nothing wrong with it???? any help be much appreciated , again button is not snapped or cracked, and goes back easy enough, just pops out about 3 times aweek

  14. This happens ed to me,the new ones aren't supplied to match the R26 interior either.

  15. Unfortunately, you need the entire handbrake. When the button goes, it's usually the bits inside the habdle that have broken. I opened mine up and tried aralditign it back together, but it didn't work.

  16. cheers for reply smegal, I am abit confused, the button is not broken or cracked, the two long bits of plastic are still there , I can still see the locking arrow thing on the one side and it goes back in well enough and works great, just pops out a few times, so to fix that problem I have to replace the WHOLE UNIT ?? sod that I will just put summing there to stop it popping out then lol

  17. If the handbrake works, I'd use it until it breaks.

  18. I will bro, its just a pain rummaging around on the floor looking for it lol
