dont suppose anyone has this down? I'm new to the megane and trackday scene, so I'm off to this its less than 10 miles from me and its soon! and its straight! £119 for all day.
Elvington isn't too bad but Yeh they do wreck tyres. Bruntingthorpe ripped the tread clean off my tyre once.
As has been said already, Airfield days are properly hard on tyres. Good way to learn though with loads of run off
They are a bastard for stones too. A 430 kicked a meteorite sized number through my intercooler years ago.
something to bear in mind when paying over 100 bucks to go thanks guys, the other track day i was looking at was cadwell, how would that compare for tyre wear? for example 3-4 hours on an airfield, to 3-4 hours at cadwell?
If it was me I'd do Cadwell and not even entertain the airfield. Just for sake of wear. Personally never done Cadwell but it's on my list. I'd say any track is fine for a novice, just take your time and get a feel for your limit and the cars.
I've done cawell many times, for a 1st track day try donington, very wide very kind to tyres loads of run offs miles safer than cadwell as its more of a bike track with no run offs, great track though
Thanks was just thinking cadwell as its closer than most places, any other good novice tracks sort of the top half the country haha?
Honestly donington will be worth the trip, get it booked and I'll see you up there, I'll give you some tips
I personally wouldn't recommend Cadwell for a beginner. Brutal track if you get it wrong. As Steve said, Donny or even travel down to Bedford as that is probably the best noob track to go to IMO.
impossible to answer, is the airfield all concrete, just sections, Cadwell Park is a world class motor racing circuit, I think at this point probably best to just dive in a figure out what's what based on your driving style.
Cadwell is something special on a bike, I love it. Loads of elevation change/camber changes and really technical. In the car I think donington would make more sense.
Yep Blyton first, don't think about Cadwell until you've got a few days under your belt as you'll either be so slow you'll be put off, or you'll push to hard and bin it. Blyton is closer than Cadwell too.
