More on air filters (sorry)

  1. Hi been looking on eBay and the like for a while about filters and the forums on here and elsewhere all recommend the BMC panel filter. I have driven this and seen it and not really impressed, i want the noise without limiting performance, if anything small gains.

Is there any type of cone filter available? (not the shite universal pointless noisy ones)

Another note completely, i can change an air filter, but besides that I'm running out of mechanical knowledge, i want a recirc shwoosh, any tips on this would be good, are they easy to do myself, anyone here who could do it? (beer included of course)

    TIA, Josh (and merry christmas)

  2. Josh I have tele K-tec racing kit installed on my 250.

It makes the car sound brilliant imo. Really hard to tell if there are any performance benefits from having it on other than the air intake temp is noticeably cooler.

If you do buy it, I'd take it to a garage to get installed unless your handy with cars because it's a bitch. The battery box needs needs removing and its a fucker to get out then back in.

If you want video I have previously posted on a thread called k-tec induction kit. If you can find it let me know and I'll repost the link.

  3. I have a R26, but I am one of the guys who think the original airbox has been well designed from the factory. I went for a re-usable panel filter which fits in the OEM airbox. I am not sure that changing the airbox for a cone filter makes much difference unless you are going for really big power. That said, going for a cone filter and ditching the airbox will make it sound quite a bit different!

  4. Brilliant thanks Nath, how much are we talking for the noise and fun? i don't want to sound like a tight arse but, cost of kit is best part of £250 and then fitting, just seems a lot for pops and whistles.

I haven't done anything really in the way of tuning, but just wanted a cheap way to give it a bit of a meaner sound. (subscribed so get some more megane stuff on  )

    Cheers

  5. Just pull out the sounddeadning in the airbox and you got your noise

  6. There's been a few threads on diy induction kits that should cost you no more then £60 have a search and you should find it.

  7. Just had a look can't see any for the 250 Meg 3? do you have a link please?

also had the air filter out today and was having a gander, to remove the whole airbox is it just the jubilee clip on the left and the bolt on the right?

  8. Removing the air of is a lot more difficult than that. Trust me.

You have to remove the battery box, and some other bits. It's a pain in the arse.

  9. I dropped a socket down there, i can see where its caught, but tomorrow I'm going in deep! its all coming out.

  10. Good luck!!!
