Headlamp bulbs

  1. Hi all, need to upgrade the headlight bulbs in the wife's RS175. One of them is more like a candle in the headlight !

What is the best option ? don't really want to mess about putting a HIDS system in, and how tricky is it to change the lamps.?

    Thanks In advance...

  2. Osram Nightbreaker Extreme is my option.

  3. Do I have to remove the bumper to change them? Or go in through the wheel arch ? Looks very fiddly!

  4. Through the wheel arch, move the wheel to have some space

  5. Jack the car up and remove the fasteners that hold the wheel arch liner in place, pull the liner to the side and you should have access.
Just go full lock to give yourself that but more room.
It's not to bad to be honest mate.

  6. I always use Phillips blue vision or extreme vision, both exceptionally better than the OEM bulbs.

  7. Will order some Phillips extreme I think. They look like the get the best reviews.

Thanks for your help lads, have a great Xmas.

  8. Get a pic up once done I'm thinking of getting some of these. Cheers.

  9. Will do mate

  10. I've used the Diamond Vision ones from Phillips and rate those. Will helpfully be putting some in my Trophy soon, as mine are like candles to.

I did have some comparison photos from when I had some in my 197 from a while back.

Are the projector headlights easy to swap? Or is there a different loom for those?

  11. I've now fitted some night breakers and although slightly brighter...it's still not very good.
Apart from fitting HIDs, what else could I fit ? Has anyone fitted 100w lamps ?

  12. Night breakers are utter dog sh*t that's your problem.

  13. I've got night breakers in mine .. Find them really good

  14. I have nightbreakers in mine and are not that impressed either. When on dipped they have more in common with a candle than a torch.

  15. I tried most of the bulbs mentioned above, in the end I ended up fitting an HID kit in the projectors, they been running strong for a year and half, no problems, no radio interference or flickering etc.

  16. Are everyones lights aligned correctly? I have Nightbreakers and find them excellent, though for full beam, which is when I actually need my lights to see, I've got some higher wattage in there.

  17. What HID kit did you buy mate ? this may be the way to go....

    Headlight alignment is spot on.

  18. Have you had any problems with the higher watt ? Are they on your dipped beam ?

  19. No, just full beam, I don't see the point on dipped. They are the only bulbs on my Megane that haven't blown yet (touch wood)! I find the Osrams fine on dipped, the are Nightbreaker something or other rather than standard.

  20. Final got the headlights sorted out and can now see where I'm going in the dark.
With the help from Sunnylunn , we Fitted a set of Phillips Xtreme vision ultra lamps with a pair of LED side lights. A massive improvement over the candles that used to flicker in the headlights.

Thanks Martin for your help and the LED lamps..

  21. no worries mate : )
