Upgrade to an R26 gearbox

  1. Is there a big difference in grip in the dry between a 225 box and an R26 lsd box on the road?

Pulling away from lights, coming off a round about.

Don't really go fast when its wet or track the car so dont care about this.

  2. You'll open a huge can of worms on here asking that recently

There a difference yes. Werther you'll notice this and how important it is very much depends on your driving style IMO.

They (R26) need the traction control turned off to make best use of the LSD, also IMO.

  3. I dont have a problem with traction at the minute, unless i want it to break traction, but next month I think I might.

Been offered an R26 gearbox for a good price and unsure if I should get it or not.

  4. If it's cheap then get it, you can have a go in my R next week if you want might help make your mind up, the diff works well in the wet , ask Andy bond

  5. If you don't fit it I'm sure you'll get your money back

  6. Good point. I will get it.

  7. Im going to have similar power to Andys maybe a little bit more after its mapped next month. Its fun now so cant wait.

He can barely drive his in this weather :tongueout:

  9. I'm looking at making a gadget to lower boost in gear when I need it. Done one years ago on a mk3 astra gsi with c20 let engine and it worked well.

  10. It it won't on the Megane unless you have in a bleed valve somewhere. Best option is your right foot

  11. Yep, I was born with the same gadget as you Dan

  12. It does work I've tried it already.
Just need to make a bracket, add a switch and some wiring.

  13. Nmp

You already have a boost switch, it's called an accelerator pedal lol.

  14. This way I'll have 2.

  15. What a strange mod. It's not a 500bhp monster.

  16. Whats strange about it?

While your there pissing about on and off the throttle trying to get traction I will be foot to the floor and gone.

  17. never had an issue with traction and I was running 300/300 on semi slicks most the time even through winter.

  18. Generally it's don't because there is too much power but done via ecu not a switch on the dash.

  19. Hahaha

  20. well your a better driver than me cause ive got 280 hp and it spins all the time haha even with goodyears :worried:

  21. I think what Dan was saying is that if you drive sensible and to the conditions then the wheels should have no reason to spin, I also use semi slicks all year round mine never spin either.

  22. Slow down then

  23. thought about this one time, didnt last too long :worried:
