250 Drivers door clunking when shutting

  1. My 250 door has just started making a clicking/clunking upon closing, it happens just as the bar is going back into the door.

The car has just turned over 20,000 miles and the doors haven't began to sag yet as some have noticed, I cleaned the door bar up and greased it well opening and closing.

Any ideas before I have to remove the door card!?

    Thanks Dean

  2. There are two nuts that hold the door retainer (thing that stops the door opening to much) that normally come loose. Tighten these if loose and all will be solved!!!

  3. Thanks mate

are the two nuts accessible without removing the door card?

  4. Yeah you should see them when the door is open. Really easy to get to.

  5. I checked these and they weren't loose but I tightened them a little more anyway, the door now does 2 clunks when opening fully and closing, sounds quite bad, I've put some grease on the door bar as well.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Door check straps probably, Couple examples of them needing replaced on the MK3 Megane as they clunk.

  7. Where are they Jamie inside the door? easy to replace? mine started doing just a single clunk but now its got much worse.

  8. Mine did this, and it was the two bolt in the whole on the door. You could see the bolt heads moving in and out when moving the door. You sure youve tightened them up enough?

  9. Mine was the same at similar mileage. Took it back to Reno under warranty and they changed both door straps. Only way to get rid of it

  10. The bolts are definitely tight enough, was worried about snapping the heads off them.

Sounds like the door straps need replacing, car is out of warranty now, any idea what the dealers charge to replace them? or if the part is available and il do it myself!
