Looks well Spec'd, Slightly pricey though but all of K-Tec's cars are.

You could probably save a couple K by looking elsewhere but if your happy with it then go ahead

Looks decent. But be wary of K-Tec. They overprice a lot of their products.

  3. Just wouldn't want anything to do with ktec.

  4. I've already negotiated a better part ex price for my Clio than what other garages have offered and have negotiated a hefty discount too

So price aside, I reckon it's the one unless something is obviously wrong with it!

  5. Why?

  6. Customer service is shite. Products are overpriced. Maps are shite. They're just generally slime balls.

  7. Ok so you don't rate the work they do fair enough. But I'm not getting them to map a car etc?

If you are getting a good deal and your happy with what your getting then go for it. You only hear about the bad stuff about a company....

That is me in no way defending K-Tec, From personal experience they are shit but i know several people who have been happy with them and stuff from them. If they were that bad would they still get the massive amount of work they do? Just to put that out there.

  9. No I'm not talking about a map I'm talking about them in general. Car sales, parts, accessories etc.

For spending 15k I'd be going main dealer.

  10. I don't want to buy a car and for it to fall to bits obviously, and I have read the bad stuff about the work they do but couldn't find anything bad about just buying a car from them...

If anyone has bought a car from ktec I'd be very interested to know views!

Theres a lad up here that bought there 197 Megane powered demo car when it was for sale, Gets abused on loads of trackdays and from what i have seen it hasn't given him any grief

  12. nice car with nice spec, a bit overpriced but if you've got yourself a deal your happy with then go for it. I've used ktec for servicing and a fair few parts over the years, never had any problems at all, always been helpful as well but thats just my experience with them, i went to RS tuning for remaps. They have been around a while now and are always busy so can't be that bad, as Jamie said, you only get to hear the bad stuff on tinternet, let us know how you get on.

  13. Except putting it into the wall but thats down to a driver error, but that car is very well built so credit to ktec on that one

OP, if you have your heart set on that as it meets your desired spec then why not go for it after all if they are giving you good customer service then thats what matters, as jamie says above we only hear the bad stuff about companies and not the good

    anyhoo good luck

  14. very well specced.

Spec like that is rare and i can see why k-tec are pricing it like that.

Having said that i do still think its overpriced. Just to let you know mine is the same plate year and lotus offered 10k, BMW 9k part exchange for mine. So paying 15k for is quite high.

    P/X values are totally different....

  16. Nice car, only sat nav and sunroof is missing. I think £13,5k could be about right.

  17. Thanks for all the comments / advice.

Its aout 200 miles from me so I need to be pretty sure before I trek all that way! Its hard though to find the spec I'm after as I'm quite picky...

And I'm not paying anywhere near the 15k, plus I got offered 4.5k on my Clio elsewhere and they have offered me 6k so I'm actually getting a better deal overall on the k-tec car than on similar cars priced at 12-13k at another garage, so the price its listed at doesn't bother me :smiley:

  18. indeed but you get a rough idea above what you'd expect.. Not 5k more on part ex value

  19. in that case look for a rattle - tensioners/cambelts were replaced under warranty, Knockin on full lock - from what i gather front hub assembly will need replacing if ball joints are knackerd. Theres a place that will replace em for less Aron Autos IIRC. (although I'm not mech minded so not sure on this.)
And recaros perforate although leather ones less so.

  20. Thanks for the tips - will deffo keep a look out, ball joints are on my list.

I used Aarons Autos to do my cambelt on my full fat 197 so I know them well, and I've also got recaros now in my 197 so have my eyes peeled for the spots where I know they wear.

  21. I can vouch for K-Tec (maybe the only one who can!) Spent a day there in August having work done on mine - awesome service, professional and competitively priced for the work carried out. Didn't buy the car from them so can't comment on that side of their sales, however they know what they're doing.

As it was said earlier in this thread - they don't get all their business and constant custom for being 'shit' do they.

  22. I bought my 265 in August from ktec and my brother bought his 265 trophy from there earlier in the year. We both had good deals on part exchange and Rebecca was really good to deal with. No complaints from us, the cars are both mint and they answered all the questions we asked.

If you're getting a good px Sarah and your happy with the deal then by all means go and take a look. 200 miles is nothing in the grand scheme of its the perfect car. We're in Northampton so was a fair trek for us.

    Happy hunting!

  23. Why buy from a trader? You'll probably be 1-2k better off by doing it privately.
Personally, having seen the standard of work coming out of ktec I wouldn't touch anything they've maintained/worked on. That's not me saying others are wrong, merely what I've seen personally.

  24. Great feedback thanks!

  25. I bought my gw 250 2 weeks ago private and it's had k-tec mods done to it and I'm very happy with the way it runs and sounds! The bhp was kept below 300 to keep the engine running nice and it doesn't half pull in every gear!
It's had straight through exhaust, intercooler and remap done by them!

Mk3's don't need the power or torque limited on them to keep the engine "running nice", The engine is strong enough to cope with ~360bhp and over 380lbs-ft. Which the stock turbo can get no where near even at full pelt.

Curious as to who said that to you?

  27. I have recaros now and I want recaros again. I don't think I've ever owned a particularly 'comfortable' car it's just not me lol.

There's nothing wrong with the standard seats it's just personal preference

  28. I'll swap you my cloth recaro s for the leather ones also bring it for a good spin on a bumpy road
i had a rattle in the front of my 265 it drove me nuts I have most of the front end replaced we think
it's the anti roll bar bushings now thank god for extended warenty

  29. Hi Sarah, I bought my RS250T 60 reg in yellow from Ktec in June, I got a bit off the price and they did service it and stamp the book. It took a while to actually get it as they were waiting on a wheel arch to replace a damaged one. Apart from smelling of fag smoke it has been great fun, done over 7000 miles since June with no problems. Struggling to get spark plugs from them, v expensive, so will try elsewhere. Good luck Chris

  30. I do a far amount of miles and find the recaros really comfy. I've never got out and thought 'shit' these seats are uncomfortable.

Heated would be nice but being cloth they warm up pretty quick. Especially after a curry

  31. I love Recaros but to say the standard leather seats are utter site is doing them a great disservice. They are a lot better than one would expect and in terms of huggability there is not a huge amount in it.

  32. I think it's the style of the seat. Renault could have done much better.

Guys, you're all entitled to your own opinion. Whether you agree or not do it in a friendly way ey? No personal snipes or insults.

CBA spending Friday night policing a thread. After PMs come in about issues. Crack on but play the game yeh...

  34. Having my 1st car be a jaguar s-type with lovely leather comfy heated seats and having to do 90mile round trip to work n home I feel I speak from experience, those recaro's in the R26 were a real worry but after 3 weeks of driving this motor I can honestly say that those recaro's are comfy as hell , I don't get out sore or wish I never got in , and I am not saying anyone is right or wrong as this is just my personal experience , but just that I have the choice of leather heated comfy seat in a car that takes ME TO WORK or gorgeous looking recaro that is well comfy in a car that I DRIVE TO WORK and a few detours cos I don't wanna go home sometimes lol. I am afraid the leather heated comfy seated car has now become my 2nd car  all hail the R26 ...

As Naith said, I don't want to spend my Friday night getting rid of shit from a thread. I have vodka and a Gumball 3000 film to watch!

  36. Back on topic before we scare the newbie away, any news on the ktec 250 you've enquired about?

  37. Yep - on the way to see if now! 175 miles down with about 25 to go

  38. Hope you're not disappointed!!

  39. Good luck Sarah, hope it's worth the trip.

    Enjoy.
