Expert opinions on potential purchase please/anyone know this car?

  1. I've only ever used their mail order service before and it was terrible.

They debited my card for goods they didn't deliver, didn't answer emails, didn't return calls, couldn't eventually tell me when the goods would be despatched and didn't offer to refund me my money (few hundred quid). This lasted a couple of weeks.

Never bothered with them since. Wouldn't let them touch a car of mine and would be cautious of a car they've worked on. The lad that bought my R26 lived near them and was excited because of his proximity to K-tec. I very nearly told him to seriously not bother but didn't want to ruin the sale.

  2. Anything I've ordered from them via mail I have also not had a problem with. Sounds like some people are unlucky..!

  3. Mail order wise, i've found them to be really good. I used to take my 250 there for servicing and a few other bits, they were good in that aspect as well. I went to RS tuning for a remap tho : )

I bought some wheels and tyres from them many years ago. My mate was going down there 2 weekends after I had ordered them for a service so I told them I would come down and collect them then instead of delivery. You would think that 2 weeks was fine to get some wheels and tyres that were in stock ready. No. The night before we were due to go down they rang to say they didn't have the tyres in stock....

I went down anyway to with my mate for his service. When we arrived they had gone down the local Kwik Fit and got some tyres fitted and tried to charge me for Kwik Fit fitting them.

Needless to say, they are cunts.

  5. But its essentialy more or less the same engine in a megane

  6. Well, as I just put down a deposit on that car I hope it is just Clios! Thanks everyone for the warnings and advice, and especially to Chris for going and checking the car out.

Regardless of the various stories on the maps it sounds like their customer service is pretty bad, so I won't be knocking on their door with the new car, but fingers crossed that the map and hardware installation in "mine" is ok. Although I live overseas so won't have masses of time to tinker with it over christmas I may take it somewhere to get it checked out just to be safe. RS Tuning is in Leeds, and there's no way I am going to get up there. Can anyone recommend anywhere in Sussex/Hampshire/Surrey/Berks?

My Knowledge of England countys is pretty poor so apologies if its no where close But 519 Automotive if you want a good map put on it. Ive know Danny for several years and he is a top guy and really knows what he is doing.

  8. Thanks Jamie - looks like 519 Automotive are in Milton keynes - a couple of hours away from me. Not massively far but I was hoping there might be someone south or west of London (other than KTEC!!!!).

Hasn't 519 shut down!? Apologies if not.

If it was me there's only one place I'd go and that's BTM in Birmingham, I travel there from Manchester and people travel from Scotland and the SW to have Fred work on their car(s).

  10. Not use him for years but Mike at Rentech Portsmouth was very good, his website has links to Cliosport so should have a good reputation.

  11. So good he couldn't change a the clutch on my r26

Negative, Just moved. Now 10 minutes from M1 JCT14

  13. Thanks Naith. As usual the prob is living overseas and therefore feeling guilty leaving the family at home during our trips to the Uk - they want to get out and about...

Eltel cheers for the suggestion - I had found rentech through google, but er, if he can't even change a clutch that has to be a concern!

  14. I travelled to rs tuning from Windsor. Well worth the trip. From everything I've read and seen, the very worst aspect of ktec is the mapping.
I'd rather spend a bit more time getting things done right, so rs tuning for the remap, BTM for everything else.

  15. Tbf you could even get a stage 1 map done remotely by rs tuning, save travelling up. Be safer and smoother than the ktec one!

  16. Use BTM.

  17. Thanks Chris.

FordeIndia......remote mapping? Now that sounds interesting - but how the hell does that work?

  18. You buy a "magic box" that interfaces with the car
You buy a map from Paul @RST or Henk @ Fastchips
You literally flash a new map onto your car.

    Job done.

or just goto leeds and have it done.

  19. nice one thanks will look into it
