250 Memory card on mk3

  1. Is it possible to connect 64GB SDHX card via card reader to USB port on 250?
    I don't have reader so I can't check.

  2. Try it.

  3. ??

I don't think I can get reader now. I don't want to bother to get one if it won't be working.

  4. I was led to believe it'll only function with ipod/iphone devices. Could be wrong mind, but the mechanism for a device to read and play files from a memory card is quite different to how an ipod plays the files to a device its connected with.

I can probably try it at some point if no one knows for sure, got plenty of cards and readers laying about.

  5. Thank you. It could be great. Bear in mind I want to use SDHX card, as it doesn't work on my camera (camera takes only sdhc).

  6. I use a usb memory stick in mine, it works. But the files has to be in the right format for the stereo to play it.

  7. this might sound stupid but the only ports i have are the ones in the picture, is this due to not being spec'd well? (second owner on a 2010 250 cup), IMG_1430.JPG

  8. Cups come with phono likes yours, FF come with aux jack and usb

  9. You have a Cup model, on Sport you get USB.

  10. am i right then in thinking these are completely fucking useless? I mean i can't see someone connecting a turntable to the cup speakers? haha

  11. Pretty much. Even more so with the fact you can stream music over Bluetooth.

  12. From turn table? :-)

  13. Bluetooth streaming is usually a bit poor quality wise though.

These phono sockets are laughable - didn't know about them before. What are you supposed to connect to them? Everything portable uses 3.5mm jack plugs/sockets.

I'm assuming they are inputs rather than outputs designed for an amp?

  14. You may connect cable with phono sockets and jack on a other side to play music from mp3 player. However it will not be possible to manage player from stalk.

  15. this is not the entire truth, though.. mine's not a cup, and it has the phono sockets and no USB... guess there's as many configurations of this car as there is cars ;-)

  16. It is if its a uk spec car. Europes a different kettle of fish

  17. 32gb usb stick on mine with no problems. Don't see any reason why a 64gb SD card wouldn't work.

Keep in mind though that the more folders you put on there, the slower the interface becomes

  18. Ok. Thank you very much.

  19. I have been using the bluetooth streaming option a bit lately, but it completely lacks any form of low frequency content - just wondering if you guys experience this as well, or my phone is the culprit..

  20. I have a Cup and mine has aux jack and usb....

My cup and others I've seen have both renault seem to be like a bag of pick n mix when it comes to spec

  22. It was an option aswel

  23. It's the bluetooth streaming that's the culprit most likely. It (BT) was never designed for streaming music and uses a process called low complexity subband coding. This compressors the data down even more than the mp3 or whatever format you already have the music in. There are different levels of LCSC but your system will use the highest data rate that both parties share, so if your phone is new and can do high data rates but the car is old and can only do older, lower data rate BT, that's what the system will work at.

If you want decent sound quality, bluetooth streaming isn't the way to go to be honest.

Decent sound quality in a MK3 RS? No such thing unless you spend money on improving the terrible stock system LOL

  25. It's all relative. CD is decent compared to low baud bluetooth streaming.

Unless they have changed their speakers/HU for the 275's then there is no noticeable difference IMO. Bluetooth streaming for me. I get annoyed of the skipping and pausing that happens when you try to use a CD in them thanks to the stiff setup.

  27. There was an update for the 250s available from the renault website, download it onto a usb stick, plug in car and access.

I find USB from my iPhone much better quality than the Bluetooth but I can never be bothered to plug it in and deal with cables etc...
Lately, when I accelerate hard, my bluetooth briefly disconnects - I can only assume the laws of physics break down inside the cabin of Renaultsports under acceleration and I'm moving quicker than the Bluetooth

  29. I don't know why people bother with music off their phones at all if you've got a USB port.

14 quid for 32GB and the size of your thumb nail. Doesn't protrude more than 5mm so won't get knocked or broken.

  30. I use Bluetooth because I can play all my music from my NAS at home to my phone. I generally don't have any problems with the Bluetooth other than the song names not updating. I also use my phone as a DAB radio.

And as for quality some of you must have fantastic hearing as I can't tell the difference.
