  1. I need some help here folks, my key card has failed and I don't have a spare so can't get the car started, I have ordered a new key from Renault but then how do they programme it to my car when I doesn't start

is there anyway possible for me to get it started???

the pins that hold the transponder to the circuit board inside will have snapped, thus killing the circuit. My saloon has done it so overtime i start it i have to manually place the circuit board onto the transponder and manage to make it work... I've bought a key cover off eBay and going to resolver the contacts together, total cost £2.50. So maybe thats the only way to get your car to renault (opening the key and bodging it all to get you there...)

once there they can just programme the new key to your ECU...

    All a massive ballache.

  3. It sure is a ballache naith, I took the card apart and sure enough the transponder had snapped away from the circuit board, I done a temp repair on it but still no joy I only noticed this last week when the car failed to detect the card so I slightly bent the key and hey presto it worked but now there is no joy what so ever

can Renault programme it without the car started because I may need to get it uplifted to Renault

not sure mate, go on youtube and look at the fix. if you pull the card totally apart you have to temp fix/solder the part near the eyelet too or something, make sure the connectors you've bodged are pushing on the contact points too!

  5. Right car has been off the road for 3 weeks now, first off Renault france had trouble cutting the grove in the emergency key dunno why this happened but anyway it delayed the key and took two and a half weeks to arrive, now Arnold Clark can't programme it to the car, they says that they have tried resetting everything which usually works but still nothing, now they want to run a diagnostics at an axtra cost of £80 which I will need to fit the bill for if its something to do with the car if its their side of things then I've not to pay for it

anyway....I know there is lots of knowledgeable folk on here, has anyone went through a similar process when the key couldn't get coded or could someone shed some light on possibly what could be wrong

    thanks paul

  6. Try a good mobile auto locksmiths. I wouldn't bother with Renault

  7. So.....turns out the car is fine and at Arnold Clark all their stuff is fine so the "master technician" recons its the new key card that is faulty so they have opened up an inquiry with Renault about it who are willing to send another replacement key which in turn will again take another 5-10 days, managed to speak to Renault UK about a curtsey car as I've now been without a car for over 3wks now, so they are going to speak to Arnold Clark tomorrow, then hopefully get back to me with some good news for a change

Starting to feel stressed out about this now

  8. wow mate all this hassle you have had when a mobile guy would have done it the same day and programmed it, I have one good one and one temperamental one, so had a quote from a local mobile guy near me £180 genuine keycard and also £140 for a good non-genuine one, sorry this info has come to late for you mate, also mark black can get it sorted too .... good luck with yours mate

  9. Finally got all this sorted, got some good news for a change a phone call today to say that the car was ready for me to collect, just so happy to finally have her back
