R26 losing power

  1. Hi as title iv had this problem for a little while, it started a few months ago when i went for a group buy remap at TDF, my initial run on the rollers as standard read 197bhp which obviously is well down. TDF put the stage 1 map on and the result read 225bhp so about the right gain expected. Booked car in with to have a look at the following week,was told it was the boost control valve and that it had been replaced. Sadly they didnt have time to rolling road it after this work had been carried out and i thought nothing of it.

    So a couple ago i had a miltek fitted at my mates garage Jabbasport which is local to me, i asked him to rolling road it for me while it was there and over two runs made 196bhp and 205bhp.......help please as im slowly giving up with the meg.The car has standard airbox with air box mod and panel filter. Also i have fitted a forge recirc valve with yellow spring which was bought secondhand from a friend of mine who had it fitted 6 months. Lastly a cat back miltek. Always serviced and belts replaced last year.
     
  2. Boost levels as they sould be? No misfires?
     
  3. Was told by TDF that boost levels were correct. No its not misfiring, slowly losing patients with it.

    Who changed the belts? It might be that the timing is out.
     
  5. TDF changed belts so (should) be correct right? Easy way for my vag friend to check timing?

    You would hope its ok but I've seen on Cliosport that some of their work hasnt been great recently. To check it properly you need the cam timing tools.
     
  7. Ok mate, iv already decided they wont be getting anymore custom from me. Just seems a bit of a coincidence that they didnt have time to rr it after supposedly fixing the proble, hope im wrong about that though. I will get mate to check timing.

  10. Is it worth me taking off forge recirc and changing to standard to eliminate that as my friend suggested,he said he would rr once changed and go from there.
     
  11. Try frist checking a boost leak, its very easy. U need a compresor and a leak meter ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375500141.519391.jpg this materials, the idea is conect to the inlet the compresor hose and Then presurise to 10 constant psi with tha car cold and not runing. If there is any leak u will hear it. Also use some soap to find bubles

    Take the car to someone that knows them inside out for a proper look mate. It'll proberbly be something daft at fault (split pipe or leaking IC) but its best you get it looked and checked properly so you don't end up spending bad money after worse.

  16. Thanks MicKPM, my mate is really quite good. Would trust him to find out the problem even though they are a VAG specialists. Other than them im really struggling to find a reputable garage i can trust to tell me the truth. If they struggle though i will have to look further out, how busy are you at the minute? haha

    Its always busy... we fix broken Renaults lolz but there's always room for one more.

    They just need to spend an hour looking thru the live data and maybe doing some short blasts with a data logger to make sure the data looks good.

    My own Meg III has been missing just recently at WOT and it turns out to be a naughty u/s H02 but no obvious faults showing in the codes or idle data. Had to data log it earlier to watch it all go tits up under boost to finally put a nail in that demon!

  19. How old/ how many miles have the injectors done?
    As if their the originals with no cleaning etc i'd be looking at them
     
  20. Hello mate, im in peterborough,Cambridgeshire area, my car is at my mates vag specialist garage tomorrow so il ask him to check injectors. My car is on a 07 and just clicked 40k with them not being changed to my knowledge, good shout. Hopefully he gets to the bottom of it.

    No pressure at all, we're new here but a fairly reputable trader on CS (if you wanted to check up on us) and an official Renault Trade Partner. The boss is a ginger pikey though!

Just a quick update, my mates garage swapped the forge recirc valve for standard an power went up from 205 to 219 and gained quite a bit more torque (242) but obviously still well down on what stage 1 should be.He says there is def no boost leak turbo seems fine,hes checking timing tomorrow but think hes running out of ideas as french stuff isnt usually his thing. Think i might have to travel further a field.

  27. I'd still be looking at injectors i remember reading a thread on megansport that had similar poor remap results from k-tek possibly?
    After going up to RStuning and having new/ refurbed injectors the power jumped up to what it was meant to be.

    I don't think the injectors throw up any codes apart from possibly random misfire codes if there playing up.
    Is your idle a little rough/ mpg down?
    Have you had the exhaust emissions light flashing up at all?
     
  28. Idle isn't too bad really and mpg has never been brilliant,I will say this to the garage where my car is. Thanks mate.
     
  29. Another update, so my mate has flow tested injectors,checked compression,checked timing but i got a phone call today saying he thinks hes found it. He noticed the knock sensor was completely broken so hes ordered another one and is going to fit that monday. He was saying that this could cause the power loss which does make sense.Anyones thoughts?

  32. Well just got car back this evening, it was a mixture of forge recirc valve leaking and the knock sensor. Car made 239.5 bhp and 270 torque from from original 197hp and under 230 torque. Still not what stage 1 figures should be but dont care, car feels so much better and alot smoother. In time will decat and get a tweak but for now me and the girlfriend are moving into our second house in a couple of weeks so thats the priority. Haha

    Those recircs are trouble at the best of time. Glad you're making steps in the right direction though.
     
  34. Steve may I ask what exhaust set up you have? My black 225 had a ktec exhaust(not the problem) , and map (tuner unknown) and the cat was failing and you could hear it due to an over run that had been mapped in, which shouldn't have been done unless you have a decat pipe. This technically should cause powerloss, in myne it did, it's just another punt at what your problem could be, obviously I could be way off the mark.

  36. I know funds dependant but, it's something that should get sorted rather sharpish, if it is failing the heat will be staying in converter and burning it up in itself...
     
  37. Ok mate, now you have worried me. Whats the converter? Might need to invest in a decat sooner rather than later then.

  40. Will you be going for the rstuning DIY box or actually going to their place for them to install the map? Only asking as I have been looking at their maps and wasn't sure which option would be best
