Off the road for winter

  1. Does anyone on here take their megane or any other car off the road for winter?

I've bought a cheap runaround to use until about April time, What do I need to do to the Megane before I put it in the garage?

Take the battery of or connect it to a conditioner, maybe jack it up to take pressure off the tyres?

  3. Tyres are almost all bald anyway, thats one of the main reasons its coming off the road lol. Cheaper to buy a cheap car and wait for the weather to perk up and then get RSRs or similar.

  4. handbrake off, leave in gear, top up oil and coolant

  5. Mine will be after donnington on Saturday, cleaned, garage , cover on see it soon

  6. Nothing else other than clean and cover in the garage Steve?

  7. Buy some used winter wheels and tyres instead? Bet they're quite costly on Meg's though!

  8. Yeah I'd imagine so Ste, bought a little polo as a runaround for cheaper than 2 tyres with mot until July

  9. Yup, only tax the RS250 for 6 months these days, garaged on a battery conditioner and under cover till April now the roads are covered in salt etc

  10. I dont have power connected to my garage... I was thinking about getting a solar trickle charger?

  11. Mine's going to be braving the cold :worried:

  12. Mine would have been but I didnt fancy doing it on bald tyres or RSRs lol.

  13. Nothing else to do is there, I've left it 3 months befor and it starts fine

  14. I keep the 7 on a CTEK conditioner if it's not going to be used for a while. That said, I disconnected the battery for a few weeks and when I checked it this weekend it was still full, no issues with the cold. It's back on the conditioner for a little while now though.

Other than that, a cover in the garage is all it gets. Should probably take my tyres off and fit the old ones just to take the pressure off them though.

  15. Your garage looks mint fella - impressed.

  16. Brim fuel tank, stops condensation occurring, over inflate tyres, trickle charge and maybe place four squares of cut carpet under tyres stop sticking to floor

  17. lol chuck it in and shut the door, it's not a vintage multi million pound Ferarri lol

  18. I've taken my inferno Megane off the road every winter since I've had it. Although getting it back on the road afterwards has always take longer than anticipated hence the low mileage.

I have it parked in a dry garage, covered and on rubber tiles to keep it off the concrete.

Battery has been removed but otherwise that's it. Oh and it's super clean.

All I will tend to do is have it serviced the moment I want to drive it next.
