  1. Just a quick hello as I'm already familiar with a few of you on here, and I'm a regular on ClioSport.

After 4 Clio's I'm considering a Megane as a daily and occasional track car but I'm concerned about reliability, but I'm sure you lot with reassure me that they aren't as bad as people make out!

I'm looking at the 225 Cup and Trophy with few or no modifications with low miles in good condition.

    Something like this...

    Welcome across mate.

  3. Welcome!

I've had mine 3 years and its only cost me a window regulator and a set of coils. Much more reliable than the Ph1 172 i had!

  9. Welcome steburns and all i can say is i am having a hoot with mine, i only bought mine a couple of weeks ago with the sole intention of having abit of a track car and scratching that itch before i am to old to appreciate it, i never intended liking the car cosmetically or expecting it to be a decent road car, if any thing i didnt like it that much, its funny how just two weeks can competely change your mind and thought process, in that time i started to respect the damn car, omg i started to enjoy and have fun in the car and low and behold and contrary to what i ever thought i am starting to love this car , ive not been in our number 1 car (s-type remapped jag) since ive had this R26, which is now my number 1 car lol, i cant put my finger on it steburns but it reminds me of my old 1275gt when i was mad teenager, but this time aswell as mad its precise and positive and accurate i the way it drives and makes me want to have fun driving again but safely, sorry amigo to go on abit but thats what this car does to me lol, i aint stop smiling and i am off to see mark black wed to smile even more, i hope this convinces you to get ya car and smile like me ....

    Welcome aboard!

  26. Okay so on Saturday I'd officially owned the car 2 months, and so far...

    - The powered steering stopped working on the M6.
    - The dashboard LCD screen is on crack cocaine.
    - The CD player doesn't play songs it doesn't like.
    - I'm told that the steering rack is f*cked.
    - I hit a pothole and burst the tyre, buckled the rim and knackered the track rod end.
    - The brand new rim from Renault is a different colour to the others, and the tyre fitter couldn't swap the pressure sensors over.
    - I keep getting random flat tyre warnings.
    - The washer bottle leaks.

I'm currently looking at part-ex'ing it before it leaves me upside down in a ditch.

    factory fresh that!

tbh alot of that is an easy fix fella..

  28. Steve I've offered to take a look, like I said I can guarantee the steering needs either a new bush or inner tie rods, I wouldn't trust 4 ash's as far as I could through them!

There incompetence was highlighted when they diagnosed my sisters fellas 172 with a lambada sensors fault and it was actually a injector causing the car to over fuel! Simple test with a multimeter showed this!

Again with the pressure sensor, that's nothing to do with the car that's the tyre fitter issue!

The lcd screen is a common one you get the odd flicker in mine and my CD player was naff hence why I went pioneer so I could connect my iPod too

All of its very minor things for a 10 year old motor that could be sorted in a day

  29. steve what dans says is true mate, I had the same steering rack issues, lots of left side knocking, local garage said "yeah mate needs new rack and the R26 is going to be £725(w@@nker) lol, mark black sorted it in about 2hrs with a bush and £120 later all done , you just got to listen to the guys here mate they wont steer you wrong ( pun intended lol), those other niggly jobs be sorted no problem

  30. Thanks for the positive comments, I feel a bit better today... Yesterday was one of those days where EVERYTHING went wrong, even my insurance company got my registration wrong!

I've text Dan and hopefully he will give me his opinion and prove that Four Ashes aren't worth my custom!

Not heard of the lcd being trippy before!

You've just been unlucky matey, on the other shoe mine has easily been the most reliable car I've owned - which came as a big surprise to me!

  32. Mate I've had my car the best part of 18 months, The car never cost me anything (Birthday Present) However, its cost me roughly £3000 for mods and general wear and tear! The stuff ive done should need doing again for a while (clutch, hubs, cambelt etc etc). Even after all the money I've spent I still drive the car with a smile on my face!

My LCD display had the same issue, either speak to ads about a new one, or PM me and you can buy mine off me as I'm thinking of putting a Scan Gauge II in its place!
