R26 Auto dip rear view mirror

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Boardy, Nov 4, 2014.

  1. Does anyone know if the loom is fitted regardless of having an auto mirror or not, got it in my head i would like to fit one for some reason?!
I do have auto lights and wipers, is this standard kit? Wondered if the auto mirror was part of the auto wiper loom?

    Thanks

  2. Loom is there ready to rock and roll. Just plug and play.

  3. Yup it's there

  4. Happy days thanks!

Is this a really daft question, but why would you want the rear view mirror to dip when reversing?

Doesn't it already cover the whole field of vision out the back, any lower is just rear seats and parcel shelf?

  6. Er maybe a little! The mirror gets less reflective to stop you getting dazzled if some has bright lights behind you.

  7. Should be auto dim. Not auto dip really. Hence the confusion?

  8. Yeah sorry my error!

  9. It's a worthwhile mod. Much better for night driving. Mine was only like £5-10 from a scrappy too

  10. Mirror fitted, 5 quid from scrapy and 5 mins to fit!

  11. If it doesn't cost arm and leg why Renault didn't fit it as standard?

  12. God knows mate? Guess if you consider the cost of fitting agains not fitting over the fleet then it would add up to quite a few quid? Most cost a good 100-150 to produce?

  13. How easy would it be to retrofit one of these to a 250??

  14. Don't think it would be to hard only need power to it, so you could take a live from the interior light.
The loom for it is already there on mine so was just a matter of fitting it.
Got this one out of a scenic, it's got a small mounting plate that's bonded to the windscreen and then the mirror just clips onto the plate.
Can take you some pictures if you want?
