R26 under seat sub or pioneer shallow sub in boot?

  1. Hi,

I would like to get a sub in my r26, nothing boom boom wake the neighbours, just to compliment the pioneer renault fitment speakers and my alpine headunit...

Question is: does anyone have the in phase usw10 (http://m.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-in-phase-usw10_p-25817.htm ) fitted UNDER the passenger or drivers seat? They are 270mm round and 69mm tall - so seems ideal, wondered if anyone has this under an r26 recaro? Any good? Any clearance issues?

Also seen a pioneer shallow flat sub that's 9cm tall that fits along the back seat bench - this also looks promising - anyone got one? Opinions? Good or bad? http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/131/201/TS-WX710A/page.html

    Cheers,

    Adam

  2. If you want to know about under seat subs send a PM to young Arthur he has one and knows more about incar hifi than most mate

  3. The was a post a while ago by Danp about the in phase sub and he said it was good, but this was in a 225 ph1.
I'm sure space under the Recaro will be fine.

The in phase does get a good review and not bad for the price.

  4. Thanks lads, I made a template of the in phase, it fitted under the passenger seat, but I have to move the seat forward and back a LOT (putting my little girl in the back seat, putting it back for when I go see me old dear) and I wasn't sure if the in phase would be pushed forward if I had this, so I looked for other options and I liked the idea of the pioneer as it's like a slab sized block that can bolt to the back seat and so i'd lose no boot space (also a requirement).

Will see if anyone else jumps on to this and i'll try and pm to the user you suggested steve, thanks

  5. I'll text him now

  6. Could you not mount it to the underside of the seat and leave enough cable legnth for the travel?

  7. Thanks steve, much appreciated - boardy - not even thought of that! I don't know though, I'm not sure without a solid surface (ie the floorpan)... nice idea though!

  8. HI Wardy. I use Kenwood undersea sub, wired into the rear of a double din kenwood. The sub also has a remote, which i have fitted by the handbrake. As tracks vary in the bass area,i can easily adjust output for each track. The seat can move back and forward as usual. Soundwise?. A cross between boom, and musical.I would rather have it than not,but in the R,its never going to be much good. Hope this helps.

  9. R26

    R26

Any chance of the model number please?

  10. Just to note, it seems youngarthur has an R26R _ the seats will be very different, there are two bars under the R26 seats, these move with the seat when you move it forward / backward and tilt it for rear access (lol)

I wondered if anyone with an R26 had fitted one of the under seat subs that I first mentioned before I buy one...

  11. I would of thought there will be more room under an R26 recaro seat that an R26.R seat.

  12. Ok, right, i'll bite the bullet and go for an in phase one I think!

  13. Ive got my focal one in the boot, does a really good job

  14. Hi Wardy. Good point. I thought the underseat area was bigger on the R26.

  15. Purchased the In Phase USW10. Will post info on how well it fits for anyone else that wants to go down this route.

  16. So... my sub arrived today - it absolutely will not be any use under the front seat, as when you move it back or forward the bars (one front, one rear) hit the sub and drag it along the floor...

So I am going to mount it to the boot side wall, passenger side. Anyone thing of a good way to do this? Want to keep this OEM looking as possible - after playing about, passenger side wall is the best option - anyone ever done this? How about mdf baffle, attached to car body (behind carpet) and screw the sub to this? Was thinking no more nails to stick the mdf down rather than drill the car body (or is this dumb?).

Bit annoyed now as this is lots more work than I expected...

    Cheers,

    Adam

  17. Velcro it the the carpet.
Get some heavy duty stuff, will stick like sh1t to a blanket!
How about my first idea of mounting it to the underside of the seat, easy to get the whole seat out and make some kind of mounting plate.

  18. I like the heavy duty velcro idea - spot on!

I hear what you're saying about under the seat, but after I put it against the boot wall it just seemed “correct” that it goes there if you know what I mean? Very oem (which IMHO = good!)

Will go look for some strong velcro now, as that would be perfect!

  19. Thanks for the link - looks promising!

No not the standard head unit, I was lucky enough to be given an alpine ida-x100 (ipod mechless head unit) by a friend, so all good - makes a massive difference coupled with the pioneer custom fit speakers, without the head unit swap, there was almost no difference between standard vs pioneers - the standard head unit is shocking!

  20. Going to attempt this by bonding a piece of plywOod behind the passenger side boot carpet side wall and screwing the sub into it. Initial mockups from cardboard and holding the sub in place are promising - looks almost OEM. I have got some evostik serious stuff ultra - hoping this will provide enough grip to hold the wood in place bonded to the car metal. Says 150 tons grip so should support 4kg I hope...

  21. I have been tempted to change the head unit but would want to keep the wheel controls, not really got around to doing any research into what units I could fit, would quite like a double din sat nav / android head unit.
Im sure that will hold up a 4kg sub!!
But could be tempted to counter sink some bolts into the wood then glue it in place, thinking about the stiff ride and it bouncing around and opening up the holes if its just screwed in place.

  22. Again, good idea - I will do that - think you're right the screws alone would break free eventually! With regards to changing the head unit, it's the best single thing you can do to improve the sound - even standard speakers sound so much better! I want a double din unit (bit worried about theft) with bluetooth, sat Nav etc and you've got everything you need. I had to dremmel out the dash, but it's not hard to do - id say go for it! You can keep the stalk controls with a can-bus adapter and my factory bluetooth still works (to a point - I can receiver calls) - so, yeah, head unit swap for the win!

    Cheers,

    Adam
