Just realised I've never actually posted anything about my car! Bodywork wise it needs a good machine polish, the wheels need re-doing thanks to the previous owner getting a bodge job done on them and really the calipers should be red again! free upload image hosting no registration post images I've had it 2 years now, and as always it's a never ending battle of things. I've spent a wedge doing a whole host of boring part replacements such as: Inner & Outer Track Rod Ends Driveshafts Radiator Air Con Rad Fuel Pump Lower Steady Bar Standard discs & pads front (+pins) and back Window Regulator New Crank pulley!! And I've done some slightly more interesting stuff including Uprated 60mm Intercooler BMC Panel filter (+ air box mod) 2.75" K-tec Decat 3" custom cat-back 630cc injectors Hybrid Turbo Helix Padle Clutch Helix Style Lightweight flywheel RS Tuning remap On top of that I've made sure the engine isn't going to go bang any time soon: Custom CP Pistons Manley Conrods Ported 225/R26 Cylinder Head with 3 Angle valve seats ARP Head Stud Kit ARP Con-rod Bolt kit ARP Main stud Kit ACL Big end Race Bearings I think that about covers it. The suspension is standard as are the brakes. I've no intention of fiddling with the suspension (certainly not lowering it - I enjoy the fact it clears everything), but I would like to get better pads on the front. I'm not a track driver and realistically don't attack the twisty A / B roads as much as I'd like (why buy an R26 then right!). Short shift is going on in the next few weeks then it's wheels & polish. After that who knows!
All that in two years - they really aren't cheap cars one way or another are they? Impressed though mate. As above, you had it tested?
Thanks all. I notice you all spotted the glaring omission! Unfortunately the chaps who spec'ed up my turbo didn't seem to know what they were doing. So although it's stronger than standard, it won't hold boost like a proper hybrid should. It's currently running 305bhp & ~345lb/ft. Not sure if it's even worth the extra cost of a 'proper' hybrid.
Someone got their figures wrong there buddy ! What is the spec ? A standard 250 td0415t turbo is capable of more than that Feel bad for you
It certainly has. The saving grace is when I come to sell it on, I can confidently the say the engine has had a gentle life Andy - I don't have the spec and am no longer in contact with the people who spec'ed it so doubt I could find out. I paid good money for it though and was assured it was as good as hybrids get. In all honesty I don't think I'll change it unless I get a cracking deal on a proven second hand unit. I'll never skimp on maintenance or essentials but there's a limit!
