Went to get a price from a local sprayer for some work.. He told me the paint is around £140 a litre?? I have no knowledge on painting so wondering how bad this is or if it's good etc
I'm looking to get the whole car done apart from the roof and told them i can take the lights, bumpers etc off before dropping it off to them and i was quoted £1500
I've decided the only way ill be happy with keeping the car is to get it resprayed then keep it so started fishing for quotes, thats the first quote I've had so I've got a few other places to try as well.
Ok no worries! Inferno is just a normal 2 stage metalic/pearl but liquid yellow is a 3 stage pearl. The paint for my car (inferno) Is £20 Per 1/10 of a litre (£200 a litre) Liquid yellow is a 3 stage so it needs 2 colours to form the base coat (yellow ground coat and a yellow/gold pearl top coat) The pearl is roughly the same price as inferno at £200 litre and the yellow ground coat is about £100 litre (All paint prices based on ICI auto colour) For a rear bumper you would use 1/2 a litre of ground coat (yellow poor coverage) and owt from 2:10 of a litre to 1/2 a litre. £150 just in colour alone
That quote is really cheap! I'm getting mine resprayed next year and have been quoted £4k. They usually do Ferraris and Lambos etc though so that may have something to do with it.
Your paying 4k to have a respray, is this a liquid yellow R26 , if so your mad the car can't be worth much more
Yes, it's Liquid Yellow. Insurance is paying out that amount as I was hit on rear quarter and bumper by a van. I've also just built a brand new forged engine so makes sense to get car looking new as well. By the way Steve I'm the liquid yellow R26 from Donington a few years ago when you had your blue R26. I know Steve with MX5 as well.
Sounds too good to be true Chris.....? Liam was £900 to get the one side done on the R26, and it was red.
£1500 is cheap as long as it lasts. I had my 182 body kit sprayed for £350 lasted about 9 months untill laquer peel
You can spend anything you want to on paint - I spent far more on paint on my Williams than it was worth - so what? totally up to you what you do with your money in my opinion!
