Laguna 2.2 Privilege (03)

Discussion in 'New to the Club? Why not introduce yourself?' started by matty90, Nov 1, 2014.

  1. Hi,

    I bought today a diesel 2.2 laguna.

Although I am very happy with the car there are a few issues I am hoping to iron out and wondered if anyone could help?

    1. The engine shakes when idle/parked. At first I didn't think this would bother me so much as I do mainly motorway miles but is surprising how often you spent stood still.

    2. The compartment for the radio and ashtray have a drop down cover which will not stay closed. They are constantly open and would make the car look much better if the covers were closed.

    3. Two of the four electric windows will not work

    4. Wear and tear, ideally I would like the car to look newer than it is on the inside, new steering wheel cover and gear stick head etc

Any advice is welcomed but please be aware I am by no means a mechanic but bought this car cheap so prepared to spend some money to get the above resolved.

    Thanks!!!

  2. I was using 51 reg Laguna mk2 in 2008-2009. It was quite good car for really small amount of money. Shaky engine - mostly fuel filter to change or injectors to clean. Cover for radio - probably spring has gone, so look for new part at the scrapyard. Electric windows - probably wires between body and doors, worse scenario: mechanism has gone. Wear and tear - get interior from Initale or GT version, they were much nicer, and doesn't cost much.

I have a diesel Meg and the idle is terrible. Getting it to BTM for a service which should sort that out. Apparently they all have a rattle though, as per most smokers..

  4. I disagree with that. I had Scenic 1.5 dCi 106 06 reg and Laguna 2.0 dCi 150 08 reg. Both were less shaky then my current Megane.

How can you disagree on whether my car has a rattle on idle?!?

  6. Thank you all for your comments

after researching the 'rattle' a few people said it was connected to the engine mount and with age they tend to sag (giving the engine more room to shake). You think it's worth getting this replaced?

i don't think its normal to shake as much as it is at the moment!

  7. Also car has passed MOT two weeks ago and has only done a few miles since last service so filter should be relatively clean

  8. I can, because it is definitely not trait of "most smokers" as you said. It may be just related to condition of your vehicle.

You quoted a different section of my text Mr Pedantic.

And for the record the 3 diesel Renaults I've owned have all rattled.

all renaults rattle, that's what try do best and why we love them lol.

tbh the gt 150 I had was a pretty decent car but was only 3 years old when I had it and with low miles.

for the op, windows in presuming will be regulator issues if a similar design to the megs, so take the door cards of have a clean up and wd40 the shit out of it

  11. Rattle!! Rattle!! Dont we mean diesel knock , , , lolz
