Steering Wheel Retrim

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by DarkPand0r, Sep 16, 2014.

  1. Looks bloody mint that mate, looking forward to sorting mine at the end of the month

  2. Steering wheel now back on the car, very happy

Feels a lot nicer too, surprising how much difference it makes being just a little bit thicker.

That does look awesome, Very similar to what i was planning on getting done as my wheel is getting a bit tatty looking at 44k now

  5. Looks like it's straight from the factory mate, top job

  6. Looks very nice. Was that from royal?

  7. Thanks guys

    Chris, yes was from Royal

  8. Really good job they have done mate, looks great!

  9. Should be getting my wheel shortly, any of you guys any idea what size the nut is that holds the wheel on? I've got a number of large sockets but want to make sure I've got the right before I remove the airbag etc. cheers

I've only just got mine on - had a bit of a nightmare with Jack if I'm honest.

Hopefully I'm just a one off - the work is second to none though!

  12. Jack fitted my wheel today.

Really impressed with the quality and colour. I couldn't recommend Jack (Royal) enough.
He fitted the wheel in less than 30 mins and the price is great.

    Dark Grey Alcantara
    Yellow stitching
    Yellow band

I need to get pics up of mine really!

  15. That looks really tidy Ferg!

  16. That does look great Ferg

I was originally going to go full alcantara but was concerned about how it would wear over time, I'll be interested to know how it goes, excellent workmanship from Jack though, really pleased with mine.

What problems did you have Daz?

My original wheel wasn't returned and came with marks I were not happy about (original parts of the wheel not the work that Jack did) the cruise control buttons and horn screws were also missing. Cruise control was then sent through the post but were scratched to buggery and the wiring was damaged so that caused a lot of delays.

It's sorted now and he's been great since I had a mini rant - I spent a fair bit of time sourcing the right unmarked wheel and expected the same one back not a shitter someone else sent in.

If I had my time again I'd request my original wheel back but didn't think it would be necessary when sending a wheel.

Please don't let that put anyone off though, I've sent him more stuff already to get redone - I was just unlucky!

  18. Received my gaiters and wheel from Jack today, workmanship is superb, really pleased with how it's all turned out.

    Here's the gaiters

Hoping to get wheel fitted tomorrow

  19. Oooh they look smart, did you go for full or partial alcantara on the wheel?

  20. Partial mate, just top and bottom in alcantara. The real bonus is the yellow leather stripe instead of the naff stitching.

  21. Got any pics of the wheel Nick ?

  22. That's proper nice like. Did you need to take the handle and the knob off?

  23. The handbrake gaiter just unclips and then slides off as the neck is elasticated. Had to take the gear knob off, nearly smacked myself in the face

Will get some photos of the wheel on tomorrow Jonny, the quality is mint mind, chuffed

  24. How do you remove the gear knob? Twist it and pull?

  25. Just pull but keep ya face out the way

  26. Looks great Nick

Funny though, Jack said he couldn't do the gaiters for me....

Shows up more with a flash but colour of alcantara is a great match to original finish.

  28. Looking good Nick! almost as good as mine! :tongueout::smiley:

Just need to add the aluminium gear knob now

  29. Looks terrible, take them all off and send them to me for disposal

  30. Looks mint Nick ! Loving the wheel. How much of a pain is it to get off?

    Oooo my knob is ready!

  32. Bit of a faff but not too bad mate, took longer to swap the bits of trim and switches from one wheel to the other.

  33. how are the people with full alcantara wheels getting on? any wear marks? looking at wheels and very tempted by that finish i think it's gorgeous

  34. Should be getting mine back soon from Snappy.

Was going to get my Clio 197 wheel done but decided to go back to the R26 wheel as the 197 wheel feels too big to me.

Gone for a half solid leather (sides) and alcantara top/bottom, with silver stitching, yellow top band and 'R26' in silver on the bottom

  35. Got mine done by Jack/royal last year some time. All leather, thicker, yellow stiching and centre stripe.

Holding up well after daily use for a year.

  36. Would a RS250 et al wheel fit an R26?

  37. No don't think they do. Clio 197/200 one or the standard megane 2 ones

  38. Ok thanks
