Megane 275 Trophy

  1. Going to have a chat with the salesman tomorrow about a new 275 Trophy.

What are people's thoughts on this?

    http://www.renaultsport.co.uk/roadcars/megane275trophy/overview

A few websites are saying this is going to be limited in the UK to 100 cars (and 30 of the R model). Can anybody confirm this? They do have a numbered sill plate but as far as I can see it doesn't say 'number xxx of xxx', so could be 'unlimited'?

Another question, the older 265 is still available, but the images on Renault's site are contradictory (or possibly out of date). The new 275 has a rotary screen control just behind the gear lever, but I can't work out if this is unique to the 275 or came with the face-lifted 265's as well. Some pictures show it with and some without.

I'm thinking this is a similar situation to the 225/R26/R26R in that all models were available at the same time for a short while, and although the extreme version was truly limited, the lesser 'close out' version really wasn't.

  2. The rotary screen control comes in the 265 as well

  3. Okay, cheers. Do they also get the RS monitor and sat nav, rather than either?

  4. Options I believe

  5. That car pack some serious punch. That's why it's killing the comp. lol

  6. I agree but a lot of people are saying 'why only 275bhp when the opposition are 300+'

  7. More to it than just power though it's the complete package , power you can use all of all of the time with the controll and handling to match it , rather than a car with to much power that can't always be used, just my opinion

  8. It would be a great buy especially if they gave liquid yellow without the £1300 option price tag. Get some colours into the new RS, all I see is grey white or black 265s

  9. .

  10. I honestly think the Megane RS is in a class all of it's own. M135i & GolfR are appealing to a different crowd. In my mind any SEAT is just awful and not up for consideration. Skoda the same.

Audi & Merc don't do this segment so what is left? Lotus would seem an alternative but how much 'car' do you get for 30k?

  11. My dad has an M135i and it is a total rocket ship in a straight line, very nice interior too.

On a challenging road however, my old R26 could run rings round it.

Depends what you want, well made, premium interior and huge straight line speed, or amazing chassis control and rawness of the Meg.

  12. A lotus, a guy I know paid 36k for a brand new one and the roof leaks all over the place, he reckons its acceptable , my arse is it, wouldn't have one as a gift

  13. Definitely go for the 275 if you go for either ...

I had placed an order for 265 Cup Chassis, RS Monitor and 19" ... came to within a whisker of the Trophy with Turini .... so upgraded to that :tongueout:

The dealer I dealt with offered an excellent package and deal so they can be knocked down a fair amount in price.

    Do it!

  14. I tried to buy a rs275 trophy in black with ohlins and turins and could,nt get it below 30.000k. Best of luck

  15. Do they offer a decal delete option? I really like the new Trophy all except that stupid rear quatre graphic.

  16. I'm pretty sure you can opt not to have them. But you have to pay if I remember correctly

  17. No I think it's the same as before, zero cost option to not have them.

  18. Yes its in options as a no cost delete

  19. will be interesting next year when the new civic typr r is released! even tho i dont think this will be anything for the meg to worry about haha

  20. I went to cinema recently and they advertised Civic Type R as "coming summer 2015". Shots were taken at the Ring and Honda driver had soft shell on him with Ring shape "label", batch or something. I think they will go under 7:50, otherwise this marketing action has not got any point.

  21. You do realise this honda marketing started before the seat beat the trophys 265, honda aim was to go sub 8 minutes.

  22. No, I didn't. Hopefully Civic's pace will be better then Honda's marketing dept.

  23. It like warned everyone else what they were planning, it was being planned and tested for 2015, i think it was late 2012 when the adverts started to be shown, so it was pretty quick going for renault to release the 275

  24. will still be interesting to see what the outcome is with the extra rev range, but then again will they reduce the weight as they made the last type r a hell of a lot heavier. only time will tell

  25. I think in the recent press release there was no mention of it being vtec

  26. They did say it will still rev to atleast 7k rpm even though it's a turbo

  27. Yeh they did mention that, but it was originally mentioned they was aiming for vtec turbo and sounded it was a big thing if they pulled it off, but no mention of it

  28. theyd have to pull somthing out there a**e to beat the 275 then if they dont have vtec turbo haha

  29. They'll call it vtec but it will not be the same as the NA engines, similar to what Renault are using on the 250 and up I guess.

  30. Yeh it will some sort of vvti turbo

  31. Well, to update the OP, I went to see the salesman.

He couldn't give me a finance figure for a new 275 because his computer system didn't have it listed yet. I believe him too as he showed me the full list of available cars.

He did go and speak to his boss (why do they always do this?) and said it's unacceptable that the car isn't on there yet and that his boss had emailed whoever to sort it. He also said he would ring me the day after with a quote.

Four days latter and I'm still waiting for the phone call.

Is it any wonder why you don't see many Renaultsports on the road?

  32. Ridiculous, the only RS cars that get bought and sold seem to be the second hand ones from the forums and classified adverts.

All the great press reviews in the world won't matter if the bumbling clowns in the showrooms still haven't got a clue.

  33. Yep theirs a video on Facebook now and their saying it's V-TEC and turbo and that's it's never been done before but they have pulled it off

  34. I noticed it on the side of the spy shots, thought there would be more of a big deal about it on the reports

  35. I could not agree more, fantastic car the rs meganes and early clios, pity about the dealerships in my area.

  36. To be fair to Renault Manchester, they have been really quite good apart from not having the new car listed on their computer.

The wife traded her old Megane 1.6 in against a new Clio earlier this year. Because the tax was running out we asked if we could chop it in a month before the Clio was ready and borrow a car. This they duly did, lending us a new Twingo.

They have now lent me another new model Twingo (RWD!) until the Trophy is ready which could possibly be in the new year, all without cost except I have to insure it. At this point I haven't signed anything or paid any deposit for the new Meagne at all.

This is a Renault Retail dealership though so I would think and hope they are a little better than the franchised places. I refuse to go anywhere near the more local Blackburn dealer.

  37. Is the new twingo rwd!?

  38. Yes. It is the same like Smart for 4.

  39. Yeah, rear engined too just like a 911.

Sadly it doesn't go sideways like a Porsche.

  40. Haha read up on it before you guys posted! Very interesting ..... sest it apart from its competitors although the people who buy those cars wouldn't know what wheels are driving the car :/
