Hi all. New to the forum and wondering if I could get some help on this matter. I've recently had new Gladen front speakers / tweeters / amp and sub installed in my 265. During the install: The amp in the wheel well, This sub box with 10" woofer went in first. However I need all the boot space i can get in the coming months so I've had a Gladen underseat style sub placed in the wheel well instead of the sub box above. My question to you knowledgeable people is where is the best place to run a switch wire to power off the sub when the car is locked?
Good to see some more proper audio going in a megane! Are you running this off the standard headunit? If so, you're probably best getting one of those universal CAN bus ignition signal generator boxes I would say.
I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, is it power you need or to feed a switch somewhere? But if its power its not too hard feeding wires from the interior fuse box back towards the boot along / behind the trim for an ignition switched live source. I had to do it for a rear facing camera. Out if interest, have the speakers made much difference alone?
nice install. completely random q but you sure you have a 265? that's a 250 steering wheel, rev counter and interior plastics (265's are gloss black)?
Thanks for replies guys. To clarify the way its setup at the moment: A power cable runs from the battery through the firewall and back to the boot (red cable). The amp and the new underseat sub-woofer are powered directly from this. The amp is smart enough to switch itself off completely when not being used however the sub draws a tiny amount of power still (standby mode i think). I want to avoid leaving it like this as the battery would eventually drain. So I was looking for a wire in the boot area that I can splice into. This is so the power to the sub will switch off completely once the car is locked. If anybody has a wire schematic for a Mk3 Megane that would be perfect. Otherwise I think ill have to run a cable from the front of the car somewhere. Im still using the stock head unit. I haven't found any limitation at all with using this now that I have the amp. The sound stage seems to be higher in the car (tweeters probably play a part in this) and you can increase the level of volume much much higher without distortion. As the front speakers / tweeters are connected to the amp i couldn't tell you if the speakers being switched on their own would have made as much of a difference. The sub though does make a really big difference. I have another Megane for comparison and it certainly feels like something is missing when you're listing to the stock setup now.
Speaking of cameras. I have a front facing camera in mine beside the rear view mirror. Have you wired yours in permanently?
I used this when I had sub in megane 250 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IGNI-GEN-...2?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item5403b5a50e if you want it i can give it you as i've removed the subs from car but i dont have instructions on how to set it up no more
Yeh both front and back powered off the same source and just ran some power back behind the trim. Providing the wires aren't too thick its easy enough. I could never find anything easily accessible at the back of the car to take power from and didn't want to splice into existing wiring really.
Cheers Robby that could be what i need. Ill have to have a look into into this and get back to you shortly. Looks like ill be taking a few panels off again
Big thanks to Robby for this!!! Arrived home to today to find an envelope with one of these generators in it. Ill try get it fitted this weekend and hopefully the system should be sorted. Top bloke. Thanks again.
Did you replace the rears at all? trying to find something, anywhere on how to get into them. apologies for dragging up an old post..
Here is a guide for accessing the rears on a 250/265: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxohr1gvls41f49/Rear_Speakers_Install-1.pdf?dl=0 (Full credit to MrPix for the guide, he kindly emailed me it recently)
ah nice, I managed to get the plate with the speaker on out without removing the seat / seatbelt rails. ! clip snapped off the plastic though 1 Corner would not un-pop at all and ended up just pulling the panel back enough to get my hand in and undo the bolts holding the plate. I've only got as far as taking 1 side out so I could checked the speaker connector for ordering, mine doesn't have the tweeters but the cable is still there! there was also a cable under the seat with nothing connected to it... i see it's the same in his pics also, maybe rear camera for the bigger nav dash unit. He's really not wrong about the sharp edges, cut myself 4 times! It's answered a few things that were bugging me though so thanks!
