265 Brake Pads

  1. What brake pads does everyone run? I'm after something with more consistent bite than oem. Not keen for the DS2500 so what's next best option? Squeel when cold isn't an issue.

  2. I have EBC yellow stuff on mine. I love the feel of the pedal with these pads and they bite instantly without alot of pressure. I bought them for carparts4less.co.uk. Cheapest place i could find them.

  3. depends how you're using your vehicle and how much you want to pay, EBC fine for general road use as are Ferodo, if pressing on or mountain/track then can't go wrong with CL 5+.

  4. I have been looking at the CL5+, would suit my style a bit better. just not satisfied with the OEM ones.

  5. I've fitted the cl5+ on mine. Great pads, but when you go in reverse and brake you hear some knocking noise. Thans because they have a smaller backplate for heat expension. When metal gets hot it expands. Sorry for the bad english:smile:

  6. I currently have DS2500 and its a superb pad! Never once have they failed me on the megane. Same with my old 182 trophy and a very lot of hard laps at the ring'.
Yes I suppose not the best when cold but that's not to say there poor. I use these as an everyday pad and have done three track taster days. However I'm done with the track days now, so next time I think it's OEM for me which will do me fine for just the odd country B road blast.

    Elliott.

  7. Cheers for the replies guys

  8. performance friction up front, the best stuff you can get, compounds 08, 11, 12 work fine with oem brake rotors and abs system, they work from cold, don't squeel, great stopping power all day long

  9. Is 12 the most agressive compound?

  10. Ebc yellow for me, great for daily use and time to time td

  11. I've just done a trackday yesterday at brands with the OEM pads, I was expecting to struggle with fade and short outings but to my surprise they performed fantastically and consistent.

  12. People knock the pads, as i have said before oem pads on my 265 felt like ds2500 in my r26 for performance

its the std fluid that is cack, if you have decent fluid in (and drive properly) the std pads will be fine, granted not hitting a brick wall good but good enough for the odd track outing!

Stock pads are fine for fast road, But any decent track time will kill them, Even with good fluid. I destroyed a set of rear pads in one day last year.

I now run Yellowstuff in the rear at all times and I'm currently on a set of XP10's up front which are brutal, Properly noisy and will be swapping them out for something less "racey" for the winter and road use though

  14. ^ I suppose it depends how hard you are on the brakes, I prefer to drive my trackdays with a little reserve as it's not a competition. I remember once to my amazement running EBC Reds in my 197 at brands and not cooking them.

Anyway back to point I suppose brake pads are a personal choice and one set isn't the ideal setup for everyone.

  15. One outing at Knockhill and my pads were cooked aswel, no bite. You ever used any CL pads?

  16. Nope, #12 compound is an evolution of #08 compound, so it is endurance pad. I use the 08 compound, should be easy to get in the UK.
here's the list of the newest compounds, but i'm not sure they make them all suited for MKIII brembo calipers, gotta look for an older STi and EVO fittings sometimes since the pad dimensions are the same

  17. Yep, cl5+ and cl6 on the r26, were like hitting a brick wall, never an ounce of fade from them but ruined my caliper seals on the process brembos wernt up to the job. Saw the french boys have the same problem on the 250s as they love CL out there!

  18. As in melted the seals with the heat? CL seems the way to go really, the CL5+ looks like the best sort of half way pad between road and hardcore.

  19. Yer melted the seals so much the piston got stuck and fried the caliper.

If they have improved them (cl5+) they went through a period where the pad broke away from the backing plate. Decent pads when i had them.

what are you using the car primarily for? Ive had oem, ds2500, cl5+ cl6 in the r26 and ds2500 is plenty for hard road use, i used them on track for a period at snetterton with good fluid and they were fine, no issues. Cl only needed on the track, i ran the cl6 on road and they were fine mind!

  20. Mainly blasts at weekends. Use it for commute now and then. Just don't like the OEM pads, not keen for DS2500 as the standard ones are ferodo and aren't upto much. Think I'll give CL5+ a shot

  21. Hope you enjoy cleaning your wheels then lol

  22. Not been any worse than other pads I've used.

  23. Car gets a regular wash anyway, a little more brake dust isn't going to it any harm.

This, Always have to laugh when people moan about dust on a performance carbon compound pad. They ant even that pad. Try proper aggressive pads like Carbotechs that have destroyed my wheels LOL

it's not dust you need to worry about, it's the discs ending up on your wheels and all up the side of the car you need to watch out for, my silver megs sills turned orange over time lol

My paintwork is like sandpaper after my last TD, Not even bothered about the wheels as they are due to be refurb'd next year and retired as track only wheels
