Bought the uprated steering rack bush from jonny at track focused direct around 6weeks ago, anyway I gave up on someone fitting it so found myself a great local mechanic , got booked in and had it fitted today, never had any complaints with the steering at all but the new bush has made such a difference, steering feels slightly heavier and less (loose) if you know what I mean, brilliant, cheers Jonny, took the mechanic around an hour inc a cuppa, well worth changing even if you have no complaints . Hard to describe the difference but it's miles better, doesn't seem to tram or dart about anymore does it .
Not at all, had an issue on the front end of mine since I bought it and changed nearly everything except the hub swivel bearings. The Bush from Jonny at tfd has made a world of difference. Definitely worth changing like you say.
Hmm you may find the bush is a little tight when new and will soon wear in making the steering weight normal again, just in case you get used to it
Like I say mark black said their was slight play in it so I replaced the part, cheaper than leaving it and having to buy and change the rack would you not agree, I'm not suggesting everyone goes out and get it replaced, just thought I'd let others know about it, ok for you.
I had mine done and I was suitably impressed too. I think this will become one of those repairs you do on these alongside the hub swivel bearings to improve the steering!
my car has not been the same since coming back from the ring..i wonder if riding the kerbs has finished of my inner bush.I had the outer arms done before i went out.But the steering now feels loose and not half as well connected to the road.
i hope this is the problem with mine..i just got it handling right with new outer arms and tyres plus a full track.But now it just feels so ragged at the front,were before it was so sharp..i just dont have the confidence it will turn in now..it just feels loose and vague.
I'd try it mate, mine was exactly like your, had no confidence in the front end but the bush made everything feel right again. I bet there's afew that need this doing.
