Steering Wheel Retrim

Been speaking with Jack about mine today, going to get the gear shift and hand bake gaiters done in alcantara too

 

It's just a little different from standard, unless you knew the difference you would never tell, his attention to detail is second to none, sending him my origanel one now to get done as standard , don't think I'll ever fit it though, something else to hang on the wall next to the engine cover lol

 

Actually, I saw a hand brake gaiter done by another company that had the Renaultsport logo embroided into it, looked very smart.

I've got the aluminium RS gear knob (same as is in the 275) and love that, but handbrake gaiter sounds like a plan :cool:

Was that the one off CS? I wanted that but it wouldn't have matched the blue interior in the Trophy. I'm getting one re-trimmed now exactly as I want it

 

No I sent an R26 steering wheel off to him and had it re-trimmed, exactly how I wanted it.

Prefer it the other way round as the alcantara will wear too easy

What's the cost for this?

I've got a R26 wheel I would like to have R26.R'd... (To save my original one) and the R#36 (my cars number) instead to R26.R at the bottom of the wheel.

Alcantara and perforated leather for my 250 wheel from Royal steering wheels is £125 plus £10 return post, that obviously doesn't include any embroidery.

 

Just had an email from Jack at Royal steering wheels, mine is all done and will be delivered tomorrow :cool:

I've just ordered my 197 wheel and airbag. Hopefully send it off for a retrim next month. Been in contact with royal and have banged some ideas about :-)

 

How much for the wheel and bag?

 

From renparts the wheel in a shabby condition was £35 and the airbag £100 plus postage.

Sending the wheel gear knob and gaitor off to royal to be trimmed.

 

I've spoken to him about them, £25 a piece mate, alcantara.

 

Yup as above, £24.99 each.
I'm going for perforated leather on the knob and Black alcantara on the gaitor both with red stitching.
As for the wheel i think i'm going for perf leather with black alcantara top and bottom red stitching and red band.

Just not too sure if it will look too busy?

I sent mine off last week and chickened out of the above, I think the Alcanara will just be a ball ache to maintain - I've gone full leather.

Lol, sorry mate, doing a night shift tonight, not seen it myself yet, was delivered to work earlier, will post some pics later

 

Steering wheel arrived exactly as promised, looks fantastic, quality finish.

I also asked Jack to make the rim a touch thicker, I've always felt that the 250 steering wheel was a touch thin, feels much nicer.

Bah I hope my decision to not go Alcantara doesn't bite me in the arse!

 

I'm sure the leather will look great Daz, I wanted to go full alcantara like the 275, but was worried about the wear and tear long term. I thought going alcantara top and bottom was a good compromise.
