265 Tyres

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Mike265cup, Sep 21, 2014.

  1. So I'm really undecided about what tyres to get next, I want something a little more track focused but not full on semi like a 888 and wondered if anyone can give me advice on what works well on the megane as I know certain tyres are better for lighter cars etc etc. I had the Yokohama AD08 on my 200 and wasn't that impressed with them but I've heard they work great on the megane. Any info would be appreciated

    Cheers.

  2. Pilot super sports or the new AD08 R

I have run several different sets on my MK3.

DZ03's for outright grip, Have been running AD08's and the NS2R but i am going back to Super Sports this week as the likes of AD08's etc ant worth the compromise, especially with Scottish roads and weather and having used the PSS before i know i am not going to loose any dry grip but will gain wet grip and longevity.
Will be putting my dzo3's on my track wheels for next year

  4. I've just brought 4 x super sports at £124 a tyre from tyre leader for 235/40/18 95y, from what I've read they're better in the dry than ps2s, same in the wet just hope they are OK in the winter

  5. Their just about the perfect tyre

  6. I'm running AD08r's and think they're great for road and track use.

  7. When the spare 888s are done after Anglesey rob I'll be on the direzza all round with 2 888s to use on the front on track days then I'll end up with 6 direzza

  8. My eye was drawn to the SS but I noticed they're not available in XL should that be putting me off?

  9. I've got a pair but Martin is having them off me mate

  10. You've got me worried now I never thought of the xl part, can anyone answer this?

  11. Are they doing PSS's now for the 18 inch rim as I thought they did not make them in other than a narrower section.
    Cheers Andy

  12. Think they made them before just didn't sell them in Europe/UK, pretty sure you can get them in the right sizes now for the 250 at least.

  13. Thanks GT.
Just did a double check on Mich's site still only gives 225's in 18's
Not to worry still have a bit to go yet.

    Cheers Andy

  14. brilliant. Got it thanks

  15. or the new pilot sport cup 2 if you don't mind spending extra cash

  16. Just ordered these PSS myself , I hope they are actually 235 profile, they'll be the only place I've seen that are. £115 each , bargain

  17. i was gonna order them on Saturday but couldn't find my card, glad I didn't as today they'd gone down by a tenner!

  18. That the size of the oem tyres for the r26? Those are well cheap... I paid 126 for the 225 profile ones about 2 years ago now.. 235's weren't available at the time..

  19. Yes that's OEM but won't believe its actually true until they arrive, it's a weird website the prices fluctuate massively over a matter of hours.

  20. I also noticed that I had them in my basket, mulled over it while I was out and came back to see they'd go one up a tenner as you say, still worried about the xl part though mainly due to insurance if I have an accident.

  21. XL stands for extra load and means the tyre is reinforced to cope with heavier cars or higher pressures, it's not anything to sport with the size so It won't affect insurance as the OEM is 235/40/18 95y - any other size may affect insurance tho.

  22. Ah ok I always thought it ment stiffer sidewall which I guessed we needed due to the cornering the Megane can do, thanks you that's put me alot more at ease

  23. Looking at the PSS tyres for 19" wheels and noticed they along with a lot of manufacturer's only offer 91y rather than the oem spec 95y on the Bridgestone potenzas. Is that a big no no to go down a load rating? Just seem to be limited on choice after a brief look.

  24. I think on the 19" there 91y to begin with as bridgestones arent standard on them

  25. Cheers Ryan

  26. An update: and im not impressed with tyre leader. I was dubious about the 235 PSS, emailed them to check it was correct, heard nothing. Placed the order on Monday and finally they emailed me today to give me a refund as there was an error with my order. I guess that means the 235 PSS doesn't exist then!

  27. Ah i thought as much, was worth a try, at least we all know now!

  28. Mine are on there way with DPD according to tracking intrigued as to what tyres I'll be receiving then?

  29. That will be interesting, I just searched the site again and nothing for PSS shows up when you search for a235 width. Let us know what you get

  30. Blimey yer be interested to see what turns up!

  31. I have emailed them asking what tyres I will be receiving and if they don't turn up tomorrow (5days since ordering, stated 72h delivery) I will be calling my credit card company and cancelling the order if I can

  32. When I went to order the PSS it said they wouldn't even ship to this country!

  33. I've had a reply just stating I will be getting exactly what I asked for but no response on time. I think I will get pilot sports but in 235 45 18 94y of which I will be refusing and will get getting a refund

  34. A 45 profile won't fit the meg I don't think, so defo refuse, altho if they said you'll get exactly what you ordered then who knows.

  35. is standard not 225/40 ? then 235/45 is too large..

  36. RS 265 :-

225/40 92Y 18's [Dunlop sport MAX tyres] Satin Anrhacite TIBOR wheels standard NON CUP

    What a result!

How much did they cost in total?

  39. So I called michelin as soon as my Mrs took delivery this afternoon, and they sey they're not in the UK market but the us and German so I have searched Google.de and they have lots of companies selling these, also the worry of extra load is no more as they are xl. All in all 7 days from Germany is pretty good and the price is good too, not the best time of year to be putting these on but I needed new ones,i only use it at the weekend and cannot afford winter tyres as well. So they're getting fitted Saturday am and if it's dry Ill let you all know my opinion on them. Funny they're not showing up I tyreleader but I'm pretty sure they're out of stock cause when I brought them it did say 4 left.
