I was planning on rebuilding my engine in the next few months as it was breathing heavy. Unfortunately i went down a country road and smashed a hole in my sump, Luckily my Spa Gauge was beeping and flashing at me that my oil pressure went below 20psi so i managed to catch it before any major damage! Instead of replacing the sump i have to build my forged engine sooner. Forged Lump Spec: Bottom End- Standard Bearings Standard Crank ARP Main Stud Kit Cat Cam rods with ARP bolts 83mm Supertech Pistons New oil & water pump + every gasket replaced. Head- Fully Rebuilt, new valves, guides, collets etc etc Turbo- 19t Hybrid Turbo Clutch- SMF with R Clutch All fittings changed to AN hopefully! So onto the damage: The high bit of road! Contents of oil on someones driveway  Recovery! In the barn ready for its build! How it sits at the moment. Just need to remove shafts and it can come out!
Sounds like a very similar spec to my build I would recommend having the bottom end rotating assembly (pulley, crank, flywheel, clutch kit) balanced while it's all out.
Can do this now as my plan before was just to build the spare engine up and remove/replace in the same day. I'm hoping Tuesday I'll have the old engine out and the gearbox, clutch, flywheel ad manifold off.
While sunning my self out in Abu Dhabi I've order my Ali fuel rail & fittings. Booked in parts to be cleaned and the AN fittings welded on. Bought a few more an fittings so I can pretty much get rid of the whole standard vac system!
Crank, Rods, Pistons, Clutch & Flywheel are getting balanced this week so i can start the build next week! Going to be tidying up the bay, cleaning, remove the AC pipes.
Still need to make the pulley. But it's been ripped out for about a year now with just the pump in place.
Very easy to do. I used a 7pk880 belt and just rotated the original tensioner. You only need to drill 1 hole for the locator to rotate it. Original location. New location. Hole I drilled. Doesnt need to be tidy no one will ever see it. For this to fit. IIrc it was 10mm. All done.
Well old engine is now sold. Andy from clioturbo is coming to pick it up on sunday. So today ive done the following: Painted my Fuel feed - Re-wrapped the loom in Nylon coated wiring loom - Getting rid of the LY bay -
Parts are at the powder coaters now including the subframe. Subframe, Radiator Support & Oil restrictor plate are going red. Inlet, Rocker, Engine Mounts All black!
Hopefully done the last parts of the ordering i'll need! Ive added an inline fuel filter, replacing the crappy bulk head cloth stuff with some proper heat shielding. ARP head stud kit. Just need to get my Cam-belt kit, Aux Kit & a new set of cam cover bolts. Getting the rest of the powder coated stuff back early next week and the balanced engine!
Just some extra protection. I'd rather spend £60 on an external filter then just use the in tank one.
Hoping it will be built by the end of the month. Then I'll fit in a track day/ring trip before crimbo
Good progress mate! I would recommend buffing away the powdercoat around the areas where bolts go, as my powdercoat ended up cracking and left bolts loose on the breather box (oil leak). Bet you cant wait to have it all back together and get the most from that hybrid on track?
Not sure if the PM system is working or not but can you contact me about the wheels you've agreed to buy off me please Dan? Many thanks.
