Clear cool liquid dripping from drivers side undertray

  1. Driving home from the coast this evening and managed to hit a pallet in the road. No chance of avoiding it and went over it with the drivers side wheels. Steering all feels okay but got back home and had a quick look under the front of the car. There's a clear odourless and cool liquid coming from the undertray in front of the front wheel. Someone please tell me that's where the air con condenser drains and I have nothing to worry about :worried:

  2. Yep....plus it's reassuring that it's clear and odourless......all important fluids have colour or odour

  3. Phew. Not coolant then. It was a hell of a bang. Amazed that its not wrecked the tyre to be honest. Steering all feels fine, no pulling or vibration. Reckon I've got away with it?

  4. PS. Ta for the input.

  5. Doesn't the air con drain on passenger side? If it's driver side in front of front wheel I reckon it's the washer bottle.

  6. As above I would think it's the washer bottle, put some coloured screen wash in and see if it pours out.

  7. Have you checked all the fluid levels?

The air con should only drip a little really. Washer bottle is a good shout.

To be honest, I'd be wanted to get it a a ramp and have a proper good look underneath after something like that.

  8. I thought I'd leave it until it was light and then have another look. Good point re. Ramp. I'll have a proper look this morning

  9. Depends on the weather, if it's been hot and I've been smugly using the climate control there is a bit more than a drip

  10. Right...No dripping this morning. Poured a full jug through the washer bottle. No leaks. Oil level fine. Coolant level fine. No damage I can see under the car other than a lump out of the jacking point. Brakes not pulling and working as normal. Steering fine, not pulling or juddering. No vibration through steering wheel all the way up to 70mph+. Exhaust all looks fine...

  11. Water collecting as it's been raining a lot and simply draining away?

  12. Could be but it was dry last night. I might get the bumper off this weekend and check the washer bottle. If that's the only damage I think I'll have got off lightly!

  13. Mine did this. I dont thing the previous owner used the aircon , so when I did it I reckon there must be a plug or something that got blocked up.

Stopped the car after a long drive with aircon on and nearly died as a puddle formed under the car.

I would worry more about puddles appearing from the wheel --> forwards as that could be turbo water feeds , rad etc .

Directly under the middle of car = air con

  14. Its from in front of the wheel. I think bumper off is a good start. Everything appears fine so fingers crossed.

  15. That changes everything. I am now going for washer fluid leaking ..

  16. Or leaking rad. Is it drivers side or passenger side ?

  17. Drivers side. Poured a full jug of water into it this morning and nothings leaked through. Its parked up at the moment so I'll have another check later.

  18. Getting the bumper off should let me see if either rad or water bottle etc are damaged shouldn't it?

  19. ^Yup. Should do.

  20. You cant always see the rad weak points are they are obscured by the top slam panel.

  21. It all seems completely fine. No more drippage. I think I'll take the bumper off to check but reckon I'm in the clear
