Tymen's 250

  1. Here's a little project thread on my 2010 Megane III RS 250. It's a bit hard to put all the tiny details into a single post, but I will list what has been modded so far.

The car started out originally as a non-cup chassis, 18" rims, and tinted windows.

What I have modded so far is:

    • Engine:
      • Stage 1 mapping by Fastchip (via my own RSTuner module)
      • Injen V2 Short-ram air intake
      • Forge dump-valve (modded to single-piston instead of dual-piston)
    • Exterior:
      • Streamline Carbon badges front/rear
      • Removed "Megane" badge from the rear
      • Blacked-out front "RS" badge, rear exhaust-trim, rear "RS" badge
      • TSW Nurburgring 18x9" Rims (provide 22mm+ trackwidth front and rear)
      • TPI Anodized wheelbolts + lockers
      • Yellow brakecalipers
    • Interior
      • Renault-sport mats and gearshift-knob
      • Pioneer TS-WX77A in the boot (standard no sub-bass, this is a nice little compensation)
    • Handling:
      • EBC Yellowstuff pads front/rear
      • MrPink's Brembo brakepins with safetyclip, instead of the stock pins which are AWFUL to remove
      • H&R Coilovers (setup with slightly more rake)
        • Used to have the stock shockabsorbers + H&R lowering springs. But both (!!) front shock absorbers failed internally at 60k miles! Beware of using lowering-springs
      • Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 255/35/18 tires (I've just got them fitted all-around, but already want my previous Michelin Pilot Sport 3's back..). But these wide tires make the car finally bad-ass, paired with the 9" wide TSW rims and different offset, causing for 22mm more trackwidth.

Next plans? I don't know. Brakediscs will need replacement all-around, dual-mass flywheel is on its way out( I really hate DMF flywheels), and the cambelt change will come up in 6 months. It's not a cheap car when you drive it daily as I do

But other than that, I'd be looking at a new intercooler. Probably the new black ones from K-Tec with yellow logo. That would fit with my current color-scheme

Anyhow, here's the pictures! First four pictures are with the H&R coilovers fitted. Before that with just the lowering springs.

  2. Looks good.

What mileage is it on now? And what mileage did the DMF start to go?

    Nice car.

  4. Ziet er dik uit zo! Nicely lowererd and the nurburgrings are very nice!

  5. love the height and wheel combo!!

    looks great

  6. Looks awesome love the wheels and lowering

Bit thick on wheel sizes and what not but what offset is it and where you get them from

  7. In my opinion 255 is an ideal tire size, especially when running higher power. Added benefit is the increased traction with the wider tire - I have no more wheelspin in 2nd gear. Mean reason to go for 255s is because my rims are 9" wide, for which 255 is the ideal width. 265 Tires are too wide and 245 too small. I've had these rims with 235 tires before, but that just looked plain silly with stretched sidewalls. This also caused me to curb my wheels already as the stretched tire didn't provide any protection anymore.

The rims are 18x9" ET63 and 5x114.3 PCD. You get a small hub diameter adaptor with them (Megane's hub is 66.1mm). I bought them from a TSW distributor in the Netherlands (Stroeve Motorsport). Code for the rims is 1890NUR635114G76. Not the cheapest of rims though, but well worth the money.

Also, I've seen people running the stock 19" rims with 255 tires! Looked good as well with straight sidewalls (no bulging).

  8. Made some new pictures yesterday in the forest! Also added a nice little decal on my petrol cap .

Getting more and more satisfied with my H&R coilover kit! I might actually lower it all-round a bit more, maybe 5mm lower than it is currently.

  10. love this meg! :tongueout:

  11. Lovely meg mate looks awesome love the sticker ha!!

  12. Brilliant wheels, nice to see some aftermarket ones that suit the mk3!

How do you find the coilovers? I keep trying to convince myself but it handles so nicely standard.

I bet that induction kit makes a nice tone too!

  13. Been some time already! Anyways, some updates:

    Fitted a new exhaust (RSR 3", link: ) and a K-Tec intercooler:

Had to replace the front-right rim as well, due to a small wooden plank suddenly finding my wheel while driving 80mph :worried: . Those poor lightweight TSW alloys can't take much unfortunately, and resulted in a pretty large bump in the outer rim. Had to import one rim from the US since the importer went bankrupt, hah. Ended up having quite an expensive rim! I'll be looking into getting the old one fixed, and then it'll serve as a spare.

Other than that, I wrapped my roof in 3M Gloss Black, love the look of it on the Oyster Grey colour. Anyways, here are a ton of pictures I shot the other day (don't mind the rusty rear hubs, I will repaint them).

  24. Not a remap for now. Gains will be so little anyways, not much point. I can already see (RSTuner datalogging) that my current mapping wants more boost at 5000+rpm than it can actually give at the intake manifold, so it's really down to the cat being restrictive.

I'll try to record the sound in a month or so!

You'd be surprised by the insane number of speedbumps in the NL! I have to avoid many routes downtown, or else I'll get stuck on one of those buggers, hah!

I'll be getting rid of the H&R ones on the mirrors though. I'll stick with the RS ones on the side, for now

  25. Amazing car!

    This is my RS:

  26. Any updates during the past year? Wonder if you decided to visit Goes after all.

  27. Really good looking car with that stance! Makes me want to install some coilovers but i must resist, at least until my stock suspension is busted. Where did you get the Cat sticker? I am really interested of installing this to my car also

  28. Hi, car looks really good, what colour did the alloys come in?
