It's with a heavy heart and to be fair pretty shit timing my meg has developed an engine issue. Mick at diamond motors gave her a thorough checking over and sadly confirmed our fears that it had low compression in two cylinders. Generally gutted as the car itself is very well looked after and has a load of subtle mods done and every service and maintenance job required had been carried out without fail. The reason for this post is to ask if anyone knows someone who's after a meg that they planned on forging. If I had the time I would go down that road but i need a car everyday and the likes of rstuning, btm & Mark black etc are fully booked so I haven't got time to wait. So it's 250/265/275 time so not all bad I guess. The car still runs well and pulls extremely well with 290bhp and as Mick says it could something simple like a valve ring but unless we strip it we won't know for sure. Nearly every mod that's been suggested had been carried out so the final jigsaw piece would be to forge it. So please ask around and let me know if you know of anyone. For the time being I'll write up a for sale thread with all the mods info etc and scanning pistonheads classified for what's about. Cheers, I'm off to go and cry now.
Haha don't mate that is a tempting thought but the wife would chop my bollocks off. She wants me to move on now and to be honest I was looking to move on next year so this is passing forward my plans. Still hurts though, love that silly French tin can.
I'm sure Fred's got some brand new engines for around £1,200 mate , but I think you have a 250 itch, go and itch mate you'll love it, good luck in selling it mate

I wouldn't forge it Corey, just get shut move on to something different, easier, less hastle and could even work out cheaper in the long run , good luck mate
It's ok forging one if it's a spare car/toy that you don't need , but I wouldn't piss about mate either unless Fred could swap it over in a couple of days for £1,500 ish, just to get you through to next year mate
Money better spent else where mate other wise you'll end up with a 10k, 100k mile R26 still worth 4k , no brainier
Some one told me that they arnt r26/225 engines. If it's an r26 splitting is the best way. Else your looking at a couple of grand at a very very large push. Oh partex with a dealer and let they have the trouble if it still runs ok.
I'll have my 250 for sale in the next month or so if you decide to change and are interested mate. I am the same I don't want to part with it
Strange, I spoke to Fred a while back and he assured me they were, John and I were after buying 5 of them, just couldn't do a deal on them, I was having one as a spare and the other 4 were going to be forged for some other lads

Im justt going on what I was told from a local garage that was repairing a bent rod'd 225 and after digging they wernt 225/r26 Engines but iirc espace engines.
Maybe that's why we couldn't do a deal then, Fred seems a nice guy though, I'm hoping to get over to see him shortly, mark black just seems to busy now
I wouldn't of thought Fred would sell you anything not as described. He's essentially a good chap. Which is rare these days. Very hard to get hold of he's that busy. Luckily I'm very local to him.
The engines are Megane F4R units from Europe that Fred has as a personal allocation (nothing to do with BTM). And they aren't from an Espace lol!! They are £1000 and there's 6 left. If anyone's after one or wants info just inbox me as Fred is silly busy.
I'm going with Gray. My ring landings went and I had to have a new head... A Vel Satis one at that haha!
