Fuel rail

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by MJ57, Aug 21, 2014.

  1. Has anyone managed to stick a nice alloy fuel rail on a megane with standard manifold?

im think the Jenvey fuel rail will fit block off one end and then it's return less and can have some nice a shiny bits.

I've got a Jenvey rail.... I am not 100% sure it will fit, perhaps with a 90 degree fitting for the fuel feed.

I need to try it with injectors in place. as you can see it's butted up to the inlet casting on the left side.

  3. You sticking in a regulator or going non return?

I am considering a regulator, but to build a decent fuel system it's another £800 - £1000 on top of the engine build.

  5. Surely not! I did one on my tomcat turbo mg zr for less than 300 and that included a swirl pot!

    new in tank pump.

    fuel lines with AN fittings.

    Swirl pot

    fuel lines with AN fittings.

    in-line pump (Bosch 044 etc.).

fuel line to rail, with AN fittings.

    regularator

fuel return line to tank, with AN fittings.

maybe less than £800 but certainly close, to do it properly.

  7. feed the fuel in from piston 1 side and have the other side welded up. will give the clearance needed!"

That was my thought if it doesn't clear the manifold.

As usual not alot of people have done much on these cars.

  9. Why do you need to uprate the fuel system, unless your going for mega bhp , surely it's not needed for 300bhp mark

  10. looks good.

  11. Ahh , all good then

  12. Might as well improve items while the engine is in pieces than doing it after. Like changing the breather system the an fittings isn't needed but looks good and should out last any rubber item.

  13. I've never built or changed an engine so most of this is over my head mate

  14. Its new to me too, I've never built a full engine done a top end rebuild before and know most the basics but its a learning curve for me!

    snap!

so that will be two of us rebuilding our engines after 500 miles

but there's only one way to learn....

  16. You don't need to replace the in tank pump as its only feeding the swirl pot so no big pressure is needed.

  17. Got the fuel rail today. 2 ways to sort it.

    Chop the manifold.
Cut the end off the rail and weld on a new end.
